We all want this shutdown to end. Families are stretched thin, workers are missing paychecks, and the uncertainty is real for millions of Americans. But I will be voting no on the deal the Senate is sending over to the House.
The presidential pardon system is broken.

Right now, there are no meaningful checks on the President’s pardon power. That makes it ripe for abuse, and it’s a threat to the rule of law.

That’s why I support a constitutional amendment to put commonsense limits in place.

Delivering for our district means turning federal dollars into real results.

This year, I secured over $71 million in federal funding for local projects and priorities in cities throughout CA-49, and more than $77 million for Camp Pendleton.

Every day in 2025, I heard from hundreds of constituents in #CA49 — sharing their stories, asking for help with a federal agency, and making their opinions heard here in Congress. This year, my office responded to 82,884 emails and answered 7,216 calls.

Families are paying more for electricity, and Washington Republicans are choosing to make it worse.

This isn’t complicated. The Epstein Transparency Act is the law.

You can’t have selective transparency. The DOJ is openly breaking the law, and they will be held accountable. No agency is above the law, and this failure will not go unanswered.

Members of Congress should not be trading stocks while making the rules.

This is a no brainer. Let’s get it done.
House Democrats roll out stock trading ban that includes Trump
The move could doom bipartisan efforts to ban stock trading, as Republicans may not back a measure that extends to the executive branch.

The recent power outage in San Francisco exposed a critical vulnerability in autonomous vehicle systems and how they operate in our communities. This technology holds great promise, but it must be able to adapt and react safely to unexpected disruptions, including infrastructure failures.

CBS pulling a fully vetted 60 Minutes investigation is a serious warning sign.

The segment wasn’t killed because it failed fact-checking or legal review. It was pulled because the Trump Administration refused to go on camera and didn’t like it.

I’m proud to continue delivering real results for California’s 49th Congressional District.

Families can’t catch a break — but Kash Patel, the Director of the FBI, just got a fleet of armored luxury BMWs on the taxpayer's dime.

This comes AFTER reports he used the FBI’s private jet for personal travel and pushed for even more taxpayer-funded perks.

We are on the brink of a completely preventable national health care crisis. Washington Republicans packed up and left town, guaranteeing that millions of Americans will lose their health care and millions more will see their costs explode.

Today, the Supreme Court reaffirmed a critical constitutional guardrail that the president cannot use the military for routine domestic law enforcement.

President Trump’s second term is filled with pay-to-play politics, blatant conflicts of interest, and worse.

Since the election, 346 donors have raised more than half a billion dollars, and a majority have already cashed in, receiving presidential pardons, ambassador posts, or special access.

Energy prices are skyrocketing, and the Trump Administration’s “solution” is to halt offshore wind projects and sabotage our nation’s ability to produce clean, affordable energy?

Our military defends the nation. It does not police it.

Yet once again, this Administration is pushing the U.S. military into civilian law enforcement — this time by adding a new militarized zone along California’s southern border.

RFK’s decision to cut millions from programs that keep our children healthy is disgraceful and dangerously irresponsible.

Lost in the controversy over Susie Wiles’ Vanity Fair interview is she admitted that Trump’s irresponsible tariff policies are hurting American families. At a time we need to be lowering costs for the American people, Trump’s policies are making things worse.

I’m excited to announce that the TIER Act, my bipartisan bill to ensure service members get the support they deserve as they transition from active duty to civilian life, was just signed into law. This is the 35th bipartisan bill I’ve had signed into law during my time in Congress.

After many months of delays, the Trump Administration is now legally required to release the Epstein Files. Instead, they delivered hundreds of redacted pages and failed to meet the requirements of the Epstein Files Transparency Act that Congress passed.

Breaking up our nation’s largest federal climate research lab is reckless.

Communities in Southern California and across the country are already facing the real, dangerous impacts of climate change. Decisions like this put their safety, their homes, and their futures at risk.
Trump administration plans to break up largest federal climate research center
OMB Director Russell Vought said the National Science Foundation "will be breaking up" the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado.
