We all want this shutdown to end. Families are stretched thin, workers are missing paychecks, and the uncertainty is real for millions of Americans. But I will be voting no on the deal the Senate is sending over to the House.
Trump’s new national security plan is the opposite of what my grandfather fought for in World War II. The Greatest Generation defeated regimes built on fear, division, and spheres of influence carved up by strongmen.

I joined @padilla.senate.gov and @rephuffman.bsky.social in condemning President Trump’s dangerous, harmful proposal to open the California coast to offshore drilling.

Making health care more affordable and accessible has always been a top priority of mine. That’s why @replindasanchez.bsky.social and I reintroduced our Health Insurance Premium Fairness Act to bring down costs for families enrolled in both Medicare and ACA programs.

Consumer prices are still rising and hiring is slowing. This is the economy Trump is making worse. His tariffs and chaos are fueling higher costs. Families are now paying the price. We need stability and serious policy, not more self-inflicted damage.

There are only 25 days left in the year and House Republicans still have no plan to extend the ACA tax credits. If they fail, millions will face crushing costs. This is not politics. It is real life.
December 7, 2025 at 6:13 PM
I am excited to reintroduce my Health Insurance Premium Fairness Act with @replindasanchez.bsky.social to lower health insurance costs for households who are enrolled in both Medicare and ACA plans.
December 7, 2025 at 1:29 AM
Washington Republicans will be entirely to blame if healthcare premiums jump. Extending ACA credits would prevent huge price hikes. The American people know who has been fighting to protect and strengthen healthcare, and who has been trying to kneecap the ACA for 15 years.

I have always believed violent criminals should be deported. That was the point when ICE was created after September 11 to focus on genuine national security and public safety threats. And for many years, I have worked on bipartisan immigration reform and stronger, more orderly border security.

Great interview with @cnbc.com @emrwilkins.bsky.social at the #CNBCFOCouncil Summit. We talked about government funding, healthcare, a congressional stock trading ban, and more. You can watch the conversation on CNBC online: www.cnbc.com/2025/12/03/c...
Congressional stock ownership is 'outrageous,' says Rep. Mike Levin, calling for ban
Calls for a ban on congressional stock ownership have grown in recent years, and California Rep. Mike Levin said the measure has bipartisan support.

The Pentagon watchdog confirms what many of us already knew. Pete Hegseth’s choice to share military strike information in a Signal group chat put our service members in harm’s way.

The presidential pardon system has reached a breaking point, which is why I have joined Reps. Cohen, Lieu, and H. Johnson in proposing a Constitutional amendment that finally puts guardrails on abuse.

Hegseth had clear rules before these strikes began to rescue shipwrecked survivors who were no longer a threat and only re-engage if they took hostile action. Instead, after two men survived the Sept. 2 strike, he let an order stand to kill them anyway. That is not a fog-of-war mistake.

Thanks for having me #CNBCFOCouncil Summit. These conversations with leaders are essential as we work to strengthen our economy and American jobs.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a Marine in a tactical vehicle accident at Camp Pendleton. I want to extend my sincerest condolences to their family, friends, and the entire Camp Pendleton community during this extremely difficult time.

If Trump and Washington Republicans continue to refuse to join Democrats in extending the ACA premium tax credits before January, millions will see health care costs double or triple.

When auto executives stand with the president to weaken fuel efficiency standards, they are choosing to concede the global market for electric vehicles to China. China already leads the world in EV manufacturing and sales, and it is moving faster every year.

The Trump Administration is gutting America’s science engine, wiping out thousands of grants in cancer, aging, engineering and more. Our district’s world-class researchers feel these cuts every single day.
December 4, 2025 at 6:44 PM
Another day has passed without Washington Republicans making progress on extending the ACA tax credits. This uncertainty is unfair to families who are already stretched thin during the holidays.

New Scripps research using the Mobile LiDAR system shows most San Diego beaches are widening. I’m proud to have secured federal funding for the LiDAR system, and tens of millions of dollars to widen beaches in San Diego and Orange County.

Just a reminder that clean energy is cheap energy. Trump’s rants about wind and solar being a “scam” are the opposite of reality. Wind and solar are now the lowest-cost power sources in America, and states that use the most clean energy have lower prices.

The term “remigration” has a dark past that everyone needs to understand. It was created on the European far right as a coded call for ethnic cleansing, the forced removal of non-white immigrants and even their children.

Trump’s economic agenda has been a disaster for American manufacturing. We’re now in the ninth straight month of contraction, as chaotic tariffs continue to jack up costs, freeze hiring and push factories overseas.
December 3, 2025 at 1:40 AM
Republicans still have no alternative plan with Affordable Care Act credits expiring in 29 DAYS. Premiums are about to skyrocket, yet they’re offering nothing of substance. Mike Johnson doesn’t even have “concepts of a plan.”

It would be completely wrong to turn Admiral Bradley into a scapegoat for Pete Hegseth. The Post’s reporting makes clear that Hegseth was responsible, and those with direct knowledge say the second strike was carried out to comply with Hegseth’s order.

Costco is right to challenge Trump’s unlawful tariffs. He abused emergency powers to sidestep Congress’s clear constitutional authority over trade. No president can rewrite tariff law on a whim.
