Trump's threats to annex democratic countries even though their citizens do not vote for this move show that he has mentally abandoned democracy and thus severed his government from the Constitution. No American owes his government loyalty if he invades.

Timeline cleanser: video of birds enjoying the birdseed I put out during the snowstorm Monday. I was able to see two different woodpeckers in the same video! I saw at least 3 types of woodpeckers, including downy or hairy (I was too far away to tell), northern flicker, and I think red bellied.

Across Canada, some provincial borders are defined by geography.
Some along meridians and parallels.
And some due to provincial and international arguments.
Through the next week, I will explore the history of our provincial borders.

It wasn't a meteor. It was Kosmos 954, a nuclear-powered Soviet satellite that failed in orbit.
It spread radioactive debris across 600 kilometres of Canada's North.

I am looking at how Canada's provincial borders were established.
Today it is Manitoba, a province that started out 1/18th its current size, has an oddly crooked border with Saskatchewan and even got into a "war" with Ontario over where the border truly was.
