#StillDoinCDs The Meters are THE classic bayou funk band from New Orleans, whose 8 albums (1969-77) never broke the top 100 in pop, but who were beloved by critics & connoisseurs, & whose music has been consistently reused & sampled ever since. “The Hits,” 1997, brings it all home.

#StillDoinCDs Toronto-based Haida/Cree artist Kristi Lane Sinclair gained nominations for best Canadian Indigenous folk songwriter in the 00s, but by this 2018 EP “The Ability to Judge Distance” had turned toward punk-influenced atmospheric alt-rock, reaching a fine, lofty stratosphere. On bandcamp

#StillDoinCDs AFI, acronym for A Fire Inside, from Ukiah, California, is a “post-hardcore” band, at least at the time of this breakthrough 2003 album, “Sing the Sorrow.” An esthetic range from melodic hard rock with pretty bits to scream vocals yielded #5 (US; 10 CDA) & platinum.

Take one Labrador, add one soft rubber ball being played with by another owner and his French bulldogs; Labrador seizes and squeaks the ball, then swallows it. Result: endoscopy bill to remove after simpler remedies fail.

Problems of the dogeoisie.

The Trumpo-Putinist propagandists made a big push about how evil liberals and the World Economic Forum were going to make people in the western democracies eat farmed insects -- but now Trump is going to make 42 million Americans go out and find their own insects to eat, and in the winter.

#StillDoinCDs Color Theory, theoretical band of California synth-pop remaker Brian Hazard, now has a delicious 14th album out, mostly online, but I scored 1 of 150 CD copies. “This Bright Circumstance” is a rhythmic, melodic synth exploration of “navigating troubled thoughts” to maintain balance.

#StillDoinCDs “New Morning” (1970) was Bob Dylan’s 11th album, featuring the often-covered standard “If Not for You,” & an extensive array of Americana including the old-style country of “Winterlude” & the eccentric jazz of “If Dogs Run Free,” ft. scat-singing by Maeretha Stewart.

#StillDoinCDs Elaborate automaton organs are a classic feature of Dutch festival & summer market life. This 2008 “Sound of Music”
CD from G. Perlee’s originally 1925 organ “De Arabier” includes popular Dutch singalong faves, a royally loyal “King Football March” & a “Barber of Seville” synopsis.

One thing this western Canadian boy never imagined himself doing was planting up a geveltuin (wot? A little strip of garden in front of the façade) in front of an Amsterdam canal house, with the stonework & soil installed for all requesters by the City for its 750th anniversary.

Incongruously, there’s one fantasy Hallowe’en village in the midst of Tuincentrum Osdorp’s Xmas villages. Features a ghoulish amusement park with miniature people riding on bats in a flying carousel.

The array of Christmasabilia at the vast Tuincentrum (Garden Centre) Osdorp in W. Amsterdam is one of the unsung wonders of Europe (I was there to get a garden plant). Room after room in an IKEA like labyrinth.

Trumpy Victorian militarism explained. "Why do so many Americans seem to have 'gone cuckoo' lately?" medium.com/@summerbelr/...
Natalism is a duty infliction in militarism, not a charity.

My contribution to the X zeitgeist today.

Laws don't block Trump, this I know,
Supreme Court judges tell me so,
Americans to him belong,
They are weak - so weak - but He is Strong.

Met up with a smooth-spored Inocybe at the Cain mushroom foray that had these photogenic metuloid cheilocystidia on the gill edges. Something in the ballpark of I. nitidiuscula.
