Writing on limits to insurrection. Archivist on Philippine anarchism & socialism, reader of ultraleft communism, degrowth, social ecology, police+prison abolition, & Southeast Asian anarchisms. For the self-abolition of the proletariat. He/They.

My essay on learning anarchist lessons from CPP-NPA-NDF is out now. I situate the people's war and mamundok in the context of a uniquely Philippine tradition of remontar and then put it in dialogue with Black anarchism, insurrectionary anarchism, and communization.

"Calling violent people psychopaths isn't ableist, it's just that they're wearing a mask of sanity"

Fucking hell
... leading to dysfunctional dynamics, ethical failures, and harmful behaviors, often masked by superficial charm or "the mask of sanity," especially in leadership roles where individuals (or industries) exploit systems for personal gain, creating toxic environments.

Demands for a new Nuremberg seriously lack ambition. The original prosecutions included fewer than 200 defendants, even if you count the post-IMT trials. Only 37 people were executed. Pretty much EVERYONE in the Nazi Party walked, and many remained in power.

I legitimately hate your country. I don't hate China, I hate the PRC, like I hate all governments. Countries are not their governments. But your country, I hate. Stop assuming I'm American.
Your felon literally isn't my president. The PRC literally sent lethal aid to fund a genocide in my country.

Money isn't real, states are illegitimate, so what? We still have to use money and follow laws. Questioning ontological basis is insufficient. How then do we transcend and overcome these ideological and material limits?

True feedback loop between domestic violence and state violence, they co-construct each other

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
Watching these videos of ICE attacking children, I can’t help but think about how many of these men first practiced their violence in their own homes.

Domestic violence teaches our oppressors to dehumanize the most vulnerable among us.

I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

Campism is not “blind allegiance” to whatever state except for the most vulgar. It's always easy to dunk on vulgarists. Rather, we need to rebut campism on how it raises pragmatism and realpolitik on the level of principle through ideologization or revisionism.

I use microblogging to articulate and verbalize problems I'm working on, and a lot of my thinking in the past year is Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal, Mendiola. Black scare, party of order, party of anarchy, normalcy, legitimacy, coherence, peripheries, ideology, limits…

to declare all authority is illegitimate is problematic because declaration of illegitimacy presupposes some legitimate authority to delegitimize, especially if that authority is the self. if the self can delegitmize, then the self can legitimize, then the many selves can legitimize new authority.
January 21, 2026 at 3:47 PM
When we speak of “illegitimate authority” it must imply a “legitimate authority.” This is how insurrectos can burn down their government but find it necessary and urgent to reconstitute it in another form, like over Discord in Nepal. Increasingly, the notion of legitimacy itself must be abolished.

If you think about it, Botswana, one of the few third world democracies to do capitalist development well, was practically a quasi benevolent dictatorship or philosopher king situation under a liberal-democratic regime, thus getting the best of both worlds.
It's true also that dictatorships are good for capitalist development. Inverse examples are aplenty but can still be rationally explained within the model. It anything, it's an argument for anti-capitalism, not dictatorship.
You may laugh but there are some who make such claims that capitalist dictatorships from Fransisco Franco to Pinochet to Fujimori to the KMT (Taiwan) were necessary for capitalist development. (Ferdinand Marcos is a frequent exception, noted as a bad dictator.) 🫩🫩🫩

If you want to do national industrialization, then do that. But a lot of people mystify it as “socialism” when it is not. Indeed, it is consistently anti-ecological and anti-Indigenous.

i know there ain't a song 'fuck the fire department' but also i personally have pictures (and i'm sure many others have such evidence all around the world) of firefighters and fire department equipment used for policing and surveillance, particularly in rallies and crowd control.
What environment are these firefighters trying to blend into, you may ask?

An environment of militarization and securitization.

Who are we trying to convince by exposing hypocrisy and corruption perpetuated by the party of order? The partisans and the false critics of the party of order know the truth. Our comrades and kasamas know the truth. The general public aren't gullible naïve sheep. No: exposure is not or key task.
