Ok, that's the setup.
We're all going to pretend those commitments were real. Not money that was already going to be spent anyway. Not circular financing. Uzbekistan was really going to spend 8% of their GDP for a decade investing in the US.

Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

I disagree with this simply because the President has been repeatedly yelling at anyone who will listen that Rs could end it any time they wanted to, and anytime insisting they should.
The cultural overreach is obviously liable to hurt Rs next year, and I don’t expect there will be any issues with Dem turnout.
The bigger electoral risk in this shutdown fight is Dems are seen as more responsible than Trump for it. The longer this drags on, the greater risk perceptions change.

Not that we need more evidence that our oligarchs are out of touch with the average citizen, but asking everyone to just buy a second ticket to prevent being stranded at an airport is pretty tone deaf: fortune.com/2025/11/07/f...
Frontier’s CEO on air travel reductions: Buy a second plane ticket from competitors if you ‘don’t want to be stranded’ | Fortune
"If you are flying Friday or in the next ten days and need to be there or don't want to be stranded, I highly recommend booking a backup ticket on another carrier."

Just so you don't get beat on a technicality by your maga uncle at Thanksgiving, the second image is about standard coins in circulation. There are fewer rules about specialty coins, which this would be. It's not illegal.

We got to GO HOME w' a billie blanket. What would have been life threatening *at best* not long ago was basically a prescription for our child.
(Our dr. knew we'd follow instructions like zealots)
It still stuns me to think how many babies could have been saved w' just... blue light.

In the 1940s my grandmother gave birth to a baby who died within two days from hemolytic disease of the newborn. When my twins had the same complication after being born in 2015 the doctors just popped them under some bilirubin lights for 24 hours and then they were fine.
This is especially true for medical care. Virtually any - any - type of cancer was a death sentence. The 5y survival rate for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 1960 was roughly 14%. Today it is roughly 95%.

Called my two D senators and said don't settle for anything other than an enforceable prohibition of exec recisions, then called my R representative and told him what I told my senators, "in case you ever go back to work."
I do think there is a real chance that the caucus can intimidate the mods back into line
this is where I’m at
it sounds like the mods are going to do this but they should walk the plank alone
no cover from leadership, whatever deal goes through the House entirely on Republican votes, and they own the cave entirely

Constituent, I just called yours and senator Smith's office and encouraged you to not compromise on anything short of an enforceable prohibition against executive recisions. This is about whether my kids will grow up in a constitutional Republic and strong Art. 1 powers are needed for that.

I know this isn't the moment in history you wanted to be in your role for. Nobody would. We're Minnesota Nice. But we're also the land of the First Minnesota and we do what we gotta do. Please stay strong.

The town water tower here still says Välkommen as we writhe under the tyrannical boot of Swedish migration.
Ah yes, we all know that the Irish conquered the United States. As did the Italians, the Germans, the Ashkenazim, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Mexican, the Norwegians, the Swedes, and so many others.

Pretty soon we're going to learn World Liberty Financial is rolling out a private health insurance product.
It will be a white labeled version of a policy so bad it wouldn't be allowed in a marketplace, from a company that's such a financial mess it wouldn't get standing credit from a normal bank.

This shutdown thing is going to backfire on Rs in more ways than they can imagine.
I'm now planning to take the train for a medium-length trip for the first time (in the US). My East coast co-workers were telling me how much I'll like it.

Americans realizing they elected a bunch of Jareds, responding with Subways.
It starts, as rot always does, with a sandwich. One tossed Reuben in the name of “justice,” and the crowd laughs. But the laughter curdles. The bread becomes a banner, the mustard a manifesto. Tomorrow it’s a trash fire behind the Target, next week it’s sirens wailing over empty streets.

Wonder if they'll get their orders of Trump Wine in before they close, I'm sure they're getting calls about why USCG best them to that.

There are plenty of things that could force an end to the shutdown, but if none do, this will.

So is "Lethality" doesn't mean "competence" or "badassery" or "lethal to our foreign adversaries", it has to mean... something else. Or it has to mean Lethal for... targets other than foreign adversaries.
Latest Army general to be jammed up over alleged wokeness is Pat Work, who led the Ranger company that fast-roped into the Korengal to recover the bodies during Operation Red Wings and was the 82nd brigade commander who dug ISIS out of Mosul

As an aside: It's weird that the secret service didn't get Trump tf out right away? Like plowing people over to carry him out the very instant the guy went down?
Like nobody knew why he passed out, nobody knew what was in the air.
