When people pick new leaders, they focus too much on picking leaders who chase after new great projects and ideas, but forget that leadership is also needed to maintain ongoing processes and keep what they have. We use incentivised studies to show that people do so at their own disadvantage!

I’m shattered 💔 to share that I just found out that the US Government terminated my 2024 NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (~$2 million), threatening my long-promised assistant professor job at Columbia University

The horror!

DT’s embarrassing performance just made him a strong contender to win the Neville Chamberlain Peace Prize, for appeasing in face of a tyrant’s unprovoked aggression.

Fun fact: Neville’s half brother of Austen Chamberlain, who won 1925 Nobel Prize for Munich Agreement, to which Churchill predicted:

perhaps Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama, & Joe Biden could be troubled to interrupt their retirements, explain clearly to the American people what is happening, and call on them to try to save the Republic -- preferably before he starts WWIII, a Great Depression, & shooting protesters

The news article writes the targets were military targets. Why is that genocidal? According to the same article, Turkey did the same.

After 6 months of fieldwork in Bougainville, I'm ready to embark on leg 1 of my #NoFly journey to Germany. Travelling by ship, train, coach over 27,000km, I'll emit ~535kg of CO2, 10 times less than flying. This decision cost me my job, but I still think it was the right thing to do. 1/
