Thirdly, the majority, as visualised in this graph, was more what I would call a 'horseshoe majority' - the bulk of the votes for delay/referal to ECJ came from far-left, Greens and far-right, while centre-left and centre-right voted largely against the referal.

Today, the European Parliament voted to put the Mercosur trade agreement to the European Court of Justice for review.

It was a politically momentous decision, very tight and carried by an unusual majority, so it is worth looking a bit deeper into it.

This just in: The #EP requests judicial review by the ECJ on the Mercosur Trade Deal with an ultra-thin majority of 10 votes.

More in-depth analysis will follow, but the majority was formed in probably the wildest way yet - relevant shares of votes from all groups.

EU Mercosur agreement is a big deal for the Mercosur countries. Many people in the region are enthusiastic about it, especially those who believe in Mercosur as an important initiative to unite democratic countries of South America.

EU finally made positive headlines, now this embarrassment🤦‍♂️

The EU-Mercosur trade deal has been stalled after MEPs voted to refer the agreement to the European courts.

A close ballot saw MEPs in Strasbourg vote 334 to 324 in favour of asking the courts to determine whether the deal is compatible with EU policy.

Es sind ja gerade Beträge im Raum, die weit über die ersten 100Mrd hinausgehen. Wenn Du mich fragst, müsste man das auch so finanziert bekommen. Ändert auf mittlere/längere Sicht auch nichts an der Notwendigkeit der Umstrukturierung des Haushaltes. Aber kurzfristig kann das was bringen, kommt aber

Habe bislang auch aus der Ökonomenzunft keine klaren Widerworte gehört. Mit den Mehrheitsverhältnissen, wäre ein SV eine geeignete Lösung. Fragt sich nur, welche „Geschenke“ zustimmende Parteien jenseits von Verteidigung wollen.

Ich finde es OK. Versuche selbst auf Social Media aktiv zu sein, und produziere Videos. Wenn man nix macht, erreicht man die jungen Leute nicht. Fand die Welt auch schöner, als man noch Flyer gedruckt hat. Kommt nicht wieder.

Regarding economic growth, opinions among experts are notably divided. In Western Europe, pessimism dominates, with over 80% of respondents predicting negative effects on economic growth under Trump’s presidency. Similarly, experts in North America share a predominantly negative outlook. In contrast, opinions in other parts of the world, particularly in Africa and Asia, are less critical. In many regions across these continents, the majority of experts do not foresee a significant negative impact on their countries’ economic growth.
