Despite this 3 post thread it's not an ever looming thought in my mind. I just get too thinky when I'm logged in here, hence the logging out more. I always feel silly being vulnerable in a space where I'm a stranger to most, but!! I love thinking outloud lol

The issue with “puzzle games” is that it’s arguably too broad to be useful; Bejeweled and Stephen’s Sausage Roll are games with very different audiences. “Metroidbrania”, “knowledge game”, and “thinky game” are all trying to hone in on subsets of puzzle games with a bit more commonality to them.

I can DEFINITELY see how especially thinky, turn-based affairs in roguelike forms could also seriously fail to respect the player's time!
Looping back to the positive Inscryption example; super interested in linear narrative takes on genres known for being run-based loops...
