At my school the driving instructors were retired history and shop teachers. They knew all the pastry shops in the surrounding towns so we would drive to Iowa Falls or wherever and park on Main Street and have a treat. We also drove around down railroad crossing arms by Randall on the first day.

I spent so much eneegy supporting poorly trained tfa-ers in the classroom only to have them move on to med school, banking, etc. Also, I know a few amazing teachers who started out in TFA, hated TFA, but stayed teachers bc they love teaching. In short, TFA doesn't help and does harm.

Our zoned school was so overcrowded with children for whom English was a 2nd language that I had to pull my daughter out & send her to an out of zone school. She was struggling, not reading fluently, unable to complete homework independently. The teachers could barely keep their heads above water.
