Game was Called SpikeOut it was a Sega 3d Beat em up arcade this was the best game before yakuza started to become popular later in the years, the same devs that made yakuza as well.

Of the entire SpikeOut extended family, only Spikers Battle feels like a finished game and not a leaked prototype.

Overall the games suggest a decent idea being workshopped in real-time but never reaching to what the devs were aiming towards.

Spikeout is such a unique 3D beat 'em up, hope Sega will actually get off their asses for once and port it to steam

I Can't Believe It's NOT Dynamite Deka Except By Core Design... or even SpikeOut!
PS1
Fighting Force

Dr. Dex Zeng tries to destroy the world. Fortunately, the FIGHTING FORCE is here to save the day as Hawk Manson, Ben Jackson, Mace Daniels or Alana McKendrick.

lmao someone who's opinion about them I respect put SpikeOut on his list of best Beat em Ups of all time and it was very funny for me to learn I'd have to install an 80GB game in order to play this one.

Hit: Castle no Murasame Jō, Mad Shark, AC Mazinger Z, Darius Gaiden, Tails Adventure, Panzer Dragoon, Kaze no Klonoa, SpikeOut, Triangle Service STGs, Melty Blood, MushihimeSama

Miss: Most Mario games, Rockman 2, Donkey Kong 64, Radiant Silvergun & Ikaruga, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, Call of Duty
What are some (supposed) ultimate 11/10 masterpieces you got to late & assumed you'd hate but didn't or assumed you like but didn't

Hit - Doom, 1st Tomb Raider, Minecraft

OK - Biohazard 4, 3rd Strike

Miss - Halo, Half Life 2, Bioshock, Phantasy Star 2, any Zelda, Dr Mario
its always funny to me when someone plays a game like YEARS later that was universally praised and they are like "god damn it was really that good huh"

I am always in the corner like "breaking news...game that has been praised for 30 years actually deserves it"

I keep putting off playing Like A Dragon 0 and 7 (and getting 8 for Spikeout) because I know I'd just get distracted playing through all its side stories and arcade ports lol

I have no idea when I'll have the time for those games, and I'm okay with not playing them anytime soon.

Ultimately yeah, they were still made with money making in mind, which is why I appreciate emulators and other tools to play these arcade games without having to worry about the economics of it all (shoutouts to testamentenjoyment‘s spikeout installer tool).

2. Spikeout Final Edition (Arcade, played via Pirate Yakuza)

Great cheese! Arcade beat em up with Virtua Fighter controls and movement. I beat it on Easy and could barely process what I just experienced but I think I enjoyed it. Especially the guy that says "FIGHT!"

it was messy but two weeks ago i finally cleared through the spikeout ducktales boys from the beginning on 1 continue. learned a lot in the process and then immediately flipped the dips to the highest difficulty lol

dont have much time to grind but this is some of the most fun ive had playing games
January 4, 2026 at 2:50 AM
Yakuza games really do feel like you're doing virtual tourism, because I lost 4K yen on Spikeout at the arcade 😅

For me, series’s appeal is the pulpy plot lines, the batshit silly secondary quests that get afterschool special poignant at times, the way you get intimate with maybe a 20 block radius vs GTA’s sprawling cities, and the brawler gameplay which is more or less lifted from the arcade game Spikeout.

...y Battle Garegga con Chitta (aka todas las naves).

- XCOM 2
- Trilogía Danganronpa

I still don't know they don't re-release all of their old arcade titles as stand-alone. I'd buy a Spikeout collection in a heartbeat. I'm not buying a $70 game for it.
