Hi all, I’m Laura feral marker & pen artist, recovering from medical stuff. I try to post an art-related thing every day! 😊💜
An colouring sheet coloured with marker, ink, and paint pen, of a repeating pattern of large and small circles of flowers and leaves, with the small circles are connected with lines of small leaves. The flowers are pink and purple, with a dark green background, and lighter green connecting leaves in a diamond layout. The centers of the flowers are red and yellow. There is a pink circle around the large flowers with a darker pink chevron pattern. The dark green background represents the surface of a pond; there are dim dark fish shapes under the flowers and leaves. This is a WiP. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a furry red monster with huge eyes, holding two paintbrushes filled with dripping paint. The monster (me. It me) is facing left in profile, looking up, holding one paintbrush dripping with green paint up high in their right claw, and another paintbrush dripping yellow paint, in their left claw, which is resting on their left knee. The monster is hairy and red, and sort of round, with no obvious nose or mouth. Their eyes take up most of their head. Sort of a cross between Elmo and a Japanese demon, but hairier. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a purple winged dragon flying against a sunset sky and over a forest. The dragon’s scales are outlined with white. Their back is to the viewer. Their wings are dark purple, spread wide, their head is at the center top of the page, and their tail is sweeping from the left side and around to the right at the bottom of the page. Highlights from the sun run along the upper line of the tail and edges of the wings. Legs are mostly hidden against/behind the body and wings. The forest is dark green with lighter green highlights, and the sky is yellow and orange. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing over a copy of the graphite drawing that is an attempt to draw a painting described in The Expanse book Leviathan Falls, called The Education of the Third Miko. It is described as a woman sitting on a throne of skulls, making eye contact with the viewer, as a tear runs down her left cheek. My drawing is of an Asian woman, as the fictional artist is described as Asian. Her long straight black hair falls over the right side of her face down to in front of her knees, and pulled behind her hunched shoulder on the right. Her head is tilted down, with her visible eye looking up through her eyebrows at the viewer. She is thin, her arms stretched out to either side, her hands resting on the arms of the skull throne. She wears a long red dress with tight sleeves and a high neck, so only the skin of her hands and face can be seen. The dress flows over her legs and down over the bones at her feet, like a waterfall. The throne is made of human skulls and bones. The skulls form the arms and seat of the throne, with shoulder bones (scapula) at the base, divided by leg bones. On either side, two columns of skulls and vertebrae rise up higher than her head, topped with arm bones and scapula, and behind her is a dark arched opening containing a pyramid of skulls receding into darkness. Loosely drawn skulls and leg bones are scattered under the hem of her dress, and around the throne. The grey background gets darker grey towards the top. I was trying to express the encroaching darkness. I really enjoy The Expanse, both the books and the show, and I was curious if anyone had tried to create the image described. All I found was two AI pics on a Reddit thread, and they were terrible. So, I started with a graphite drawing, then photographed it, printed it on art paper, and then worked over the image with paint pen, ink, and marker.

Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & QuarkXPress put my dad out of work for over 18 months, until he could trade his paintbrush & markers for a mouse & screen. But it doesn't mean they're morally wrong. Now you can be an art director without knowing how to draw. Similar changes will happen with LLMs.

... I just realized something.
When I check to see if art is real or AI, what I do now is check for "artifacts" that a REAL person would leave behind.
An extra paintbrush stroke in a small place, or an outline that they forgot to remove, or lineart overlapping another.

The cap's interior remained stained after the overnight inverted isopropyl bath and scrubbing with 3 kinds of brush and a paper towel today, so I think for its part it is just stained.

I will leave it inverted & pressurized to try to loosen any remaining particles clinging to the bulb's interior.

Annoyingly saturating drizzle so I’ve given up on sketching outside for now and retreated indoors for a dabble with some Spring découpage 💕
Pieces of a paper napkin, a wet paintbrush used to carefully tear the edges of images. Will glue onto various Spring decor, including blown eggs, a yearly endeavour and collection!

At this point I am inverting the bottles, refilled with isopropyl, to sit in the caps again in hopes of getting the very last of the blue pigment if there is any remaining - or verify it's just stains, not active ink pigment that might interfere with ink when repurposed.

The lids were the most work to scrub down real good. The red came fully clean. The blue pigment turned out to be much more pernicious and stained the fringes of the plastic. I don't think there's very much active pigment left there, though...
The blue inkpot's lid, inverted, on a faux marble countertop. It is clean and white, but has faint blue stains in crevices and fringes which ignore the scrubbing and alcohol both. The two Pelikan inkpots, cleaned, with their inverted caps, cleaned, on a paper towel. Nearby are a blue paintbrush, a straightened paperclip, a showerhead pinhole cleaning brush, and a drinking glass of water. The red inkpot's cap is clean and white whereas the blue inkpot's cap shows evidence of blue staining. Another angle of the assembly. A third angle of the same assembly.

She was funny because early concepts of her was her being turned into a frog. Gradually frog idea was dropped. Later she was more designed in mind as a rival to Happy, and my friend suggested a paintbrush as a staff and i WENT OFF with that idea

This character's design looked very winter-y to me, so I fluffed up the jacket, added some cable knit texture to the shirt, & I just had to finish it off with a cute pair of jeans! I kind of SUPER love the light denim look for a lot of these, it just feels right!
