The snow has finally started. In an absurd sort of way, this is good. My back patio has been a sheet of ice for several days, and a layer of proper snow will actually make it easier not to biff over and over. Oh Spring, where art thou? ;-)

@sixftjamie.bsky.social I made my living as a biomedical engineer -- something I never studied. I was an applied mathematician though, and that is essentially creative writing with numbers. Very different from pure maths. When I retired, all the kids that worked with me made me.... 1/2

To all my wonderful friends -- Benny the wonderdog is home, safe and sound. But I swear on a stack of Hurwitzes, she is on permanent probation from here on out. :)

this morning I got diagnosed with a rare immune disorder. Then I took Benny the wonderdog out for a wizzer, fell hard on the ice that used to be my lawn, the dog took off, and I looked for her for 2 hours. She's safe at the animal shelter, but I swear, I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

There is a feeling, I think the Japanese have a word for it, for when you think you want tofu miso soup, ask your wife to pick up all the ingredients, and then proceed to NOT make miso soup because there is really good spaghetti sauce in the fridge.

@sixftjamie.bsky.social This is the one I was looking for. Sheila is a natural entertainer, and I am a 61 year old mathematician who still remembers the songs he wrote when he was 7. If they ever remake Thelma and Louise, they'll be crazy if they don't cast Sheila and me in the title roles.
