Before we move to assigning Ability ratings, we assign a score to Attributes. If you've played D&D, these are your Strength, Dexterity, etc. If you've played oWoD, these are the same. Like WoD, we have physical, mental, and social types - and primary, secondary, and tertiary.

I'll disagree with you on this as well. It's not that In Nomine, VtM, oWoD/nWoD, are the issue. And they don't cause problems.
The groups that do are generally influenced by APs and modern DragonGame-isms or Computer RPGs.
I never had issues like those before I've seen the surge of CRers.

I'll disagree with you on this as well. It's not that In Nomine, VtM, oWoD/nWoD, are the issue. And they don't cause problems.
The groups that do are generally influenced by APs and modern DragonGame-isms or Computer RPGs.
I never had issues like those before I've seen the surge of CRers.

Almost everything I've read about 5th edition is making me think the OWoD lines peaked with Anniversary Edition.

Gotta be something from oWoD, no way nWoD could support a cult; although I assume the authors of Beast are the type.

Yeah, oWoD tried to portray kindred society as both very localized BUT also globally grandiose and it always carried a dissonance with that. VtR was very much "kindred don't travel a lot, it's all just petty fiefdoms"

FWIW, V5 did present the Camarilla as joining forces with the Muslim overarching sect of oWOD (it's name escapes me), and it was sort of portrayed as a source of new, pro-camarilla representatives of Brujah, Lasombra, and Banu Haqim (with Ur-Shulgi's Banu split off)

I was big into the oWoD in the 90s and then only came back to it with any seriousness in the late 2010s, so there’s definitely a nostalgia factor for me.

That makes sense—nWoD was sort of obviously a major system improvement, but I bounced off it because it wasn’t the setting I grew up with and loved.
WoD 5e borrows a lot of system improvement from nWoD, with a setting that’s much closer to oWoD.

In the OWoD, things used to be real bad for sleepers (aka regular people). Reality was weak and the world was, for all intents and purposes up to late middle ages, a fantasy world. A low fantasy world. Mud 'n' Blood.
