Ironically a post I made to try to screen my feed went mini-viral (at least compared to its intended audience).

Things this post is not:

- a statement of my ongoing beliefs
- an opportunity for you to be congratulated on your voting record
- an invitation to argue
- an endorsement of current Dems
If you could’ve voted for Kamala or Hillary and didn’t, kindly unfollow.
My program director who was also chair of the film program did this to us in grad school. And it also stipulated that they didn’t even have to credit us.

When I complained I was told I had a problem with sending “angry emails”
Venerable magazine Harper's Bazaar is running its short story contest again, with the winner receiving "the chance" of publication in the magazine. Just one catch: per the wording of the guidelines, _just by entering_ you transfer copyright ownership of your story to Harper's parent, Hearst. 1/3

I need to read more about George Washington Carver.

I feel like he was a visionary not just for his inventions but for pioneering a gift economy.

I cannot sufficiently underline how despicable it is that the IOC has required Haitian Olympic athletes to remove an image representing the leader of the Haitian Revolution (against SLAVERY) from their uniforms.

Honestly makes me want to move to Haiti for a hot sec.

(Only for a hot sec because I caNNot move anywhere right now and who knows if they even want disillusioned African-USians
Toussaint is a hero of the entire African diaspora. He stood up against Napoleon and led his country to independence. Haiti became the first and only Black/anti-racist republic and second democracy in the Americas (after the US) and the colonizing west has never forgiven them for it.

We must find ways to influence each other outside of the system of cash, funding, and profit.

It’s just a pendulous pattern of erosion and rebuilding of hypothetical cash piles. The system is designed to self-replicate no matter how much we chip away at it.
I would like to see one of the LA mayoral candidates explicitly run on cracking down on the LAPD.

Dramatically cut their budget and tell them they can have it back when they stop beating protestors and shooting journalists.
I feel like Los Angeles is a place where people expect ICE to happen because the kidnappings have been happening to my home city for decades, so there’s less media attention to it now. and I want folks to see that in LA, Latine students are organizing major protests & the police are attacking them

Trust and believe Black and other minoritized scientists are asking these questions; if you care, you need to be asking too.
Brockman had to have INTENTIONALLY avoided inviting non-white scientists to these events where Epstein would show up because Epstein didn't believe in the intellectual equality of non-white scientists to white ones

If you're a white scientist in an all white space, ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT WHY

Idk. It’s been difficult for me. It’s one of two major grocery/department stores in a short drive and there are some things there that are more affordable there than anywhere else. The rest of my neighborhood is dollar stores.
The Target situation is like a microcosmic example of the US tariff initiative. People thought they needed Target, until the boycott. Now they’ve found ways around it and don’t wanna go back. Other countries are now realizing they don’t need the big superpower USA and are adjusting accordingly.

Not only were his supporters as vitriolic to Clinton supporters as some Trump thumpers, they constantly claimed he was *more feminist* than the woman who coined the phrase “Women’s rights are Human Rights”

When black folks were like “hey it’s not just class, it’s race” he ignored it.

“Empathy for the white working class”
Jill Stein spoiled just enough to prevent the electoral college from aligning w popular vote.

Jim Comey refused to discuss Russian interference but made up some Bs non existent shit about HRC less than a week before the election. ( when she was still several points ahead)

While ppl are finally out here realizing what a mistake it was to allow this dingbat to steal the presidency from the woman who won it by over 8 million votes, I’d like to also remind everyone what a petulant fucking toddler Bernie Sanders was about it all the way through and after the elections.

There’s no lack of space or lack of resources.

Any lack of jobs is because the CEOs want to cut wages rather than spending money on innovation.

The real crisis is oligarchical greed.
It really pays to remind ourselves frequently that this whole immigration "crisis" is made up out of whole cloth. There was no emergency, danger or problem, only a demagogue stirring up racist grievances for political advantage.
