Interesting. The system is also now delayed by a year (at this stage) in many places (e.g. Akl/Wlg) till 2027.

Metlink still talks about half of the 2026 for some reason: www.metlink.org.nz/news-and-upd...

the ad revenue probably doesn‘t even go to MetLink, just whoever they yanked whatever bargain basement React Native app template from

What sort of fresh hell is Metlink serving up ads before I can search for PT information 🙃

Fkn great. Let me guess, privatise their functions and things like Metlink.

rip wellington trains
November 8, 2025 at 6:12 PM
All I want is for Metlink to get their shit together. Like, my train can be late, cool, but can you COMMUNICATE rather than playing announcements or trains that aren't there?

Q: What happens a speeding RANGER hit a Metlink Wellington bus?
A: Dunno, but I almost found out.

Every time I THINK Metlink has made the website the worst it can possibly be, they go above and beyond expectations! Astounding!

I was lamenting the other day that this government has defunded the Hazards app I used to rely on for all weather notifications. Forecasting aside, if I had known about the Orange warning / seen the details, I might have just stayed home.

At the moment, I'm mostly relying on Metlink...

Surprised to see that Metlink have kept the double deckers going in this weather. Given the low number of passengers out & about, switching to the regular sized buses would seem to be the sensible choice #BusDriverEd

Yeah Orange warnings are frequent enough, but usually Metlink advises people to stay home if it gets really bad. I didn't really notice the Orange warning myself, and it didn't seem unusual. I only realised it was *this* bad when I thought I might be blown in front of the train this morning.

So........why was Wellington issued only an Orange Wind Warning?

I personally have NEVER been pushed around THIS severely by the wind in town. It is BRUTAL out there. No alerts from Metlink either...someone was killed...

Not trying to speculate, would fr love to know what makes a red warning?

Received an absolutely enraging followup from MetLink about the bus side-swiping me off the road.

Currently deciding if I have the energy to go full Nuclear American Karen this week.
Today in biking milestones: first time knocked off my bike by a bus.

I was in full pads and I'm upright at the moment, but not really an ideal milestone for a person who will not risk ANY physical activity that might interfere with guitar playing.

We'll see about what it means for the triathlon 🤷‍♀️

#BusNews: Metlink services will have extra capacity on Thursday 23 October, when the striking unionised workers march to parliament in Wellington.

Waiting for the bus in Masterton. No seat. I have mobility issues and standing for long not just hurts it burns. I’m too short for the beam I think is for leaning against. Doesn’t work anyway.

Not good enough MetLink and Masterton District Council.
