#TrainNews: The Capital Connection’s services on February 16 have been suspended due to weather impacting the Lower North Island.

The Capital Connection Commuters page has also advised there will be no metro services until at least 10am on the 16th.

#TrainNews: Wellington's Metlink has to pull 11 of its Matangi trains out of service after an Australian parts supplier went out of business.

But officials said that would not affect current train services.

#RailNews: Both KiwiRail and Auckland Transport's 2026 Auckland Rail Network Closure calendars only have work detailed through to May 2026.

The 2025 Calendar had the listed closures from January to December.

Further work may yet be scheduled.

#StationNews: For 2-3 weeks from February 15, NZTA will be undertaking tie-in works for the new Paerata/SH22 Roundabout.

The roundabout will connect to the new Paerata Station.

During the works, there will be a temporary speed limit and stop/go traffic management.

#BusNews: Orbus Dunedin saw 7,500 bus trips taken in Dunedin last Saturday. Usually, Dunedin sees around 4,000 bus trips on Saturdays.

The increase was due to the free buses operating for the 2026 George Street Market.

#LocomotiveNews: @LewisHoldenNZ on X has worked out KiwiRail's most reliable locomotive from its Mean Distance Between Failures (MDBF) information, which KiwiRail tracks its locos with.

The EF locomotives came in 5th, with the DF locomotives taking out first place.
