Everything that makes Aotearoa New Zealand unique is related to Māori culture. Welcome to the country, that's a pōwhiri. We are gonna thrash you at sport, that's a haka. Traditional meals, that's a hāngī. Matariki that's our New Year

If you don't like Māori stuff maybe you're in the wrong country?

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:

A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

Welp, it's 8:25am on a Tuesday and I am already burnt out.

(This tends to happen when you work through the weekend and until 2am on Monday night.)

(Not really condusive to the amount of stuff I have to get done this week, though.)

A former Fetterman consultant (and his former voice on social media) has few kind words for PA's center-right Democrat Senator.

A Philly friend of mine echoed these sentiments based on her interactions with his office.

Can't wait to see this guy primaried.

I was one of the senator’s most dedicated consultants—until I saw a side of him that made me sick.

Geez this government is a death cult aye, they are taking 20% of Water Safety NZ’s funding from next year because they weren’t sure if it actually made a difference to drowning statistics. It’s $1.1 million of funding, there needs to be more funding not less.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

US Dems just had a massive electoral win at just about every level even in some massively conservative areas, so it makes sense that they are *checks notes* entering an emergency session on a Sunday afternoon ready to cave on the government shutdown.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

Gaga Album of the Year let's goooooooo!

(Yeah, I know it'll probably be Bad Bunny or Kendrick. Still need to hear the Bad Bunny record, but nothing else I've heard in 2025 has come close to touching Mayhem - and I've never felt that way about a Gaga record before.)

Had my first experience with NZ's Hand Therapy physio service today and WOW.

I felt so taken care of. They had all sorts of cool tech for splints/casts and GUITARS or therapy/training!

There are great things about NZ's health services. We need to give both the services and the people MORE MONEY.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
you ever think about the works progress administration? I sure do. I wish that was a thing now. I would be so glad to contribute my labor to like. A random ass local bridge
