I finished Pluribus last night and am going to be chewing on the Carol/Manousos dynamic for a long while

#Pluribus Agree with your top two. Carol has found out some stuff post Helen death. Flashbacks would be great about the eggs. I would love for the first episode of season 2 to be joining day experiences of Manousos and Diabate. I would love to be a hive member milking a wandering cow on Route 66.

@parkermolloy.com There was a moment during the show where Manousos is about to traverse the Darien Gap and the "others" offer him supplies and help to get across. He looks at them and says:

"You can't give me anything. Because everything you have is stolen."

Within the context of that episode […]

We need more Manousos..es. Dudes just happy to play with radios.

ofc they would end it like that. the fuck she gonna do with an atom bomb, but at least she came to her senses finally. I know she was grieving and lonely.

Manousos is my fav fs, he’s fucking paranoid but i love his resilience. he was like i’d rather die than lose my personhood.

and just... idk man

it's starting to feel real Pluribus out there

every time I open LinkedIn the feed is entirely people speaking in forced chipper GPT-voice, even the ones who aren't using GPT to write their posts, even people I KNOW don't talk like that in person at all

save us Manousos

I do think it is rugged individualist (Manousos) vs passive collectivism with Carol sitting somewhere in the middle, but I think that the actual message of the show is ultimately going to be like 'our individual strengths are valuable but the more separate we are the more difficult life becomes.'
February 7, 2026 at 1:59 PM
It might also be critical of total collectivism, which I have feelings about, but I don't think you are supposed to look at Carol or Manousos and think they have the correct approach.

Tastes (and preferred pacing) differs (of course, we know this). And so, for me, the pacing was perfect. Episode 7, in particular, was a feast for the eyes. My husband and I sat stunned at the art of the scenes where Manousos drives his car through towering canyons and colourful towns.

Can i ask you your take on Manousos, because I really don’t know how to deal with him in the show. I expect season 2 is going to get into him a lot, but right now he seems brutal (even Carol catches this) and almost psychotic. His take on the hospital surprised me, but that might be my bad.

The hive mind is clearly bad; to miss that is to be dense as a post.

But what I love most about Carol is she’s grieving and doesn’t know how - she’s deeply flawed and it’s partly not her fault.

Her flaws make her intriguing. Same with Manousos. The inconsistency is why I root for them both.

Carol is like an American in the pandemic, furious that she can’t still eat out. Manousos is life or death invested in the absolute worst part of human civilization, capitalism and private ownership, and has to be followed like a child for his own safety.
February 5, 2026 at 3:21 PM
So true... idk if Carol and Manousos are quite there yet, but I can't wait to see them work together
