1/ In order for Dems to do virtually *any* of the things @jamellebouie.net identifies, other than use their control of one or both houses of Congress if they gain it (and I think they'll win control of both), they need to expand the Supreme Court to 13 members in '29.

If you have atom coordinates and lattice parameters, spglib identifies the crystal symmetry for you quite efficiently and reliably.

Why did The Australian use an image of Imane Khelif, a cis woman of colour, in a transphobic headline about banning trans women in sport? Imane was assigned female at birth and identifies as a woman. Paired with the use of the word "men", this headline is irresponsible, misleading and offensive.

I think that the most frustrating thing about being a guy that identifies as asexual, beyond the fact that women and girls can also be creepy sex pests, is that there's no recognizance that I might want intimacy that isn't rooted in intercourse.

I've spent fifteen years observing a pattern that humbles me: when a customer churns, each team builds a different narrative from the same journey. Support sees technical failures. CS sees relationship erosion. PS identifies execution gaps. Each perspective feels absolutely true. /1

It was on the main lunchtime news on BBC One - I saw it live and the newsreader definitely said “a biological male who identifies as a woman”. Same on Radio 4 news. However, by the late evening 10 o’clock news they’d changed the script to “born male who now identifies as a woman”.

They're just referring to a local average treatment effect, which is pretty much a universal shift in causal inference work outside of true experiments (RDD identifies around cutoff point, IV identifies among compliers, DiD it varies based on setup but often just ATT not ATE)

Antivaxxer Steve Kirsch unknowingly identifies the fatal flaw of an antivax “report” from the McCullough Foundation
One advantage to having studied antivax rhetoric and techniques used by deniers of vaccine safety and efficacy for so long is that I’m now so familiar with the patterns and tactics that I see them right away. So it was when I saw the same old arguments used by antivaxxers to portray the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine as ineffective and dangerous recycled and repurposed for COVID-19 vaccines basically as soon as the vaccines were released to the public in December 2020.

Study identifies how Epstein-Barr virus triggers multiple sclerosis
med.stanford.edu/news/all-new...

"20% to 25% of MS patients have antibodies in their blood that bind tightly to both a protein from the Epstein-Barr virus [EBNA1], & a protein made in the brain & spinal cord [GlialCAM]"
November 12, 2025 at 9:46 PM
The author specifically identifies his subject as Harvard types who said Epstein was "smart" and "misunderstood". If your friends/family were also saying that, maybe re-think. If not, this post isn't about them. If you read the post, it is clear which ones he is talking about.
