“Every major epidemic we've had recently is a virus or from a family of viruses we’ve known about for some time prior &that has likely been circulating in some form for millennia….So if we got better at just diagnosing every case that came into the clinic, we would be prepared for every epidemic.”🧪🛟

Finished essay on Bad Empanada: punching down at me—a #trans PhD, #an-Com, activist, sex worker and #rape survivor—but also attacking my friends in different intersecting minority communities, fighting for our rights alongside Palestine.

I'm glad long headed characters are back in fashion I think maybe it'd be weird to be so fucked up your mouth can't even chew proper but it's cute that termite workers take care of the soldiers we ALL got that weird Cousin who bites people

I can’t stop thinking about Luxon’s reason for being against CGT: “Kiwis owning beachfront & rental properties will be taxed.” Ahm, I thought that was the point? Imagine min & living wage workers saying they’ll stop paying rent, as it eats their earnings? #nzpol

In the 90s when I was in college I read "The Winner-Take-All Society" by Frank & Cook (1995) for an econ class. It had this passage about the "Lake Wobegon effect" which has always stuck with me:

"60% thought they were in the top 10%, and 25% thought they were in the top 1 percent."

Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop is mostly a cozy read. But then I will come across a passage like this as the games industry increasingly turns to contract roles and die immediately.

So I confirm, because it's been like a month??? I thought everyone knew and was just cool about it???? And she nods, and smiles, and she says to me.

She says.

"My son also takes estrogen."

I'm going to need workers comp for the way my soul just left my body

Comparisons to the amusement park owner’s posthumous additions to the Winchester Mystery House & White House plans are fair, but before the misogyny & ableism get thicker regarding Sarah Winchester, I thought I’d drop a screenshot & link to Sarah Monroe’s review essay about Colin Dickey’s Ghostland

He told our CEO that I was planning on quitting

During Happy Hour, I (like everyone else) complained about our new client which he passed on to our CEO

I learned the lesson not to consider co-workers as friends

It backfired. I got a promotion and a raise because they thought I was leaving 😂
Enough about Work Husbands and Work Wives.

You ever had a legitimate Work Enemy? Because I’ve had several. I never start with these people and I always warn them. But they never listen. 🫠

wait, sorry, there are actually people talking about 996 unironically? I thought it was still in the "veiled threat" stage, at least for US tech workers.

people are actually embracing it as some hustle culture shit? how do you not immediately identify yourself as the sucker in that scenario?

It takes a particular kind of government to gaslight you about a fire while standing in front of the flames with a gasoline can. Today's White House "ANTIFA roundtable" was a pageant, a reality-TV set piece tuned to the Stephen Miller attention economy, where the goal isn't governance but ...

Good morning, friends and #Resisters

An unbelievable essay was published on fb on July 17th, and I just discovered it in a feminist group I belong to…the author is named Alisa Kasmer and she says she is Stephen Miller’s cousin.

I’m sharing it here now.

Please share.

I was reached out by an AI lab to ask about my opinions on AI as a #gamedev, I thought to share my response to see what other people think. I tried to present a balanced and pragmatic view.

For the record, my game project (which I'm probably cancelling to focus on other stuff) has no AI in it.

I thought George Will's 2011 thoughts about railroads were in a category of their own, but, now, Russ Vought has joined Will in the Hall of Fame of Absurd Comments about Public Transportation.

Donald Trump says workers at the UN should be arrested because the escalator didn’t work?

Absolute barking mad!

Le gros type orange qui aime bien se représenter en Superman fait un caca nerveux parce que son Escalator s'est arrêté : t'avais qu'à voler ducon !

oh my god lol -- Trump calls for UN workers to be arrested because his escalator didn't work yesterday
September 24, 2025 at 10:20 PM
He wants UN staff arrested now. Every time I think a ‘troof’ post has to be a joke, I check and find out it’s real. This is because of the escalator stopping. Unhinged

Ordinarily I refrain from posting Trump's Truth Social rants, but the UN one is truly hilarious. It's Trump distilled.
