Inkventpocalypse Day 4 aka Enigma Stationery, Diamine, & Colorverse inkvent (plus a Tony’s tiny choco).

Day 4 is two watery insipid Colorverse inks (warm pink, warm taupe) 1 of which has weird shading & then the dreaded stinky lipgloss-but-pretty-colour from Diamine.

This ink is pretty enough, aside from the lipgloss scent that made me cough. It’s a purpley burgundy ink with no shading, but is much darker in the written sample (done with the pointed nib) and it took ages to dry. Bottom Ink is a watery, shading warm grey-brown Colorverse Colorvent 2024 called Sailing Stones. This ink is not as dark in writing like the one for Day 3 was. It was even lighter and more desaturated. Bottom Ink is Colorverse Colorvent 2024 DaVinci Glow which is a light cool blue-grey with blue in the heavier areas. It’s not very legible in the text. Getting the feed for the Hocoro nibs improves them incredibly even for just swatching. I have fewer accidental blobs instead of "Sphinx of Black Quartz..." I intended.

It’s closer to what I’d expect the Salted Caramel to be, but it’s a really lovely warm and readable yellowy-orange that definitely is starry. The doodle is of an 8 pointed star tree topper. Day 22 = 2 shimmers - a weird greybrown & an oceany one. 1st one I’ve owned - a purple grey.

Middle ink swatch is Diamine Inkvent 2024 Black Edition, Nutmeg (shimmer) a greyish-warm-taupey-brown colour that defies description. It has a fairly heavy gold shimmer. There is some shading. The doodle is of a couple dried nutmeg seeds. Bottom Ink is Colorverse Colorvent 2024 Portuguese Meteor (glistening) is the second of the non-standard inks in this Colorvent. It’s an oceany Caribbean blue that shades wonderfully and has a very subtle aqua blue shimmer. It foamed up and was very hard to get the shimmer to translate to the page. It’s very stubborn. The doodle a drawing of the meteor that was on social media in 2024 over Portugal. hocoro筆を限界まで倒して書きました、やっぱり伸びはわるいけど、満足した♪
グラフィーロならするする伸びるんだけど、色がきれいなのはMDペーパーなのよ、なやましいわぁ

書きたては青みが強いんだけど、だんだんピンク色が出てくるのです
まさに夜に桜で、素敵なインクだよ～(*´ ω `*)

in any case the kaweco sport continues to be my everyday travel writer (and when it blows up the mess tends to stay contained) but the hocoro dip was such a delight (and non proprietary ink!) that i could be convinced to carry one around. cheap too (like the kaweco sport) just slightly less portable

They are shaped to mimic a brush for Japanese/Chinese characters, with varying line width based on the angle you hold them to the page.

A lot of Chinese manufacturers offer then, and Sailor (Japan) has fude options for their Hocoro Dip pen, and FPs called Fude de Mannen for < $20 US. /2

There are dip nibs/pens that do great with fountain pen inks, like Kakimori’s brass and steel dip nibs, the Sailor Hocoro dip pen series, glass pens etc. that are designed to hold more of the water based ink close to the nib with grooves or a reservoir
