#headingly
I’ll go with 2019 headingly, the missed run out, the no reviews left LBW appeal and the winning moment. The biggest day of carnage I can remember in test cricket, every ball captivating from the first to the last two nations gripped in disbelief

Just left the new monster Headingly Costco (wasn't planned, nor my idea. Lol)
Was there from 2 to 3. It was busy, but not bonkers. Like a normal Saturday busy.

Lots of rugby union on #r4today but silent about arguably the most formidable rugby team, the Kangaroos playing to a sold out Headingly, televised by BBC 1
But that was rugby league ... not fit for the Daily Telegraph?

Right now, there are none. I expect as there is more development, eventually we will see a stop there. As it stands, I think the nearby apartments are all on the Headingly side, so it's not a major priority for the City, unless the RM wants to pony up some money to get busses out there.

They just opened up a Costco outside of #Winnipeg in Headingly. Yep. Sprawling #Winnipeg.
This breaks some people’s brains.

In most cities, Costco stores fuel sprawl & car dependency.

In Vancouver, our full-sized downtown Costco has residential towers above & a skytrain station next door. LOTS of customers don’t drive to it.

We live a block from it. We call it “the convenience store.”

There can’t be a more worthy answer than that but I will throw in Headingly 81, or a walk round the medieval bit of London with all the bookshops in 1939 before it was all raised in the blitz.

My youngest lad Jamie lives in Headingly and does lots of gigs around the wider Leeds area, which as I proud Dad I am always posting about. I guess that's what caused the mix up!

RIP Dickie, you did us here in Yorkshire reyt good.

May you always umpire the wickets where you are now, a fair decision you'll give, I know.

The closest I got to meeting him was at Headingly back in 2017 (I think) when he was there and talking to Geoff Boycott.

Oates had a nice house in Headingly. It was part of Tetley Hall. By coincidence, my first student residence in Leeds.

Love that they named the huge clock at Headingly after Dickie Bird when he retired.
And since it’s always been known as “The Dickie Ticker”

Fare well, Dickie Bird
Old Father Time raises a
Finger to say "out"

(I know that Father Time is the weather vane at Lords and Dickie was a proud Yorkshire man, so a Headingly reference would have been more apt, but he was made a honorary lifetime member of the M.C.C!)

I remember seeing him on the local news years ago, being overcome with emotion and crying at the sight of the new Len Hutton gates at Headingly. I was particularly struck by his enthusiasm for the inclusion of Asian women in the crowd depicted on the gates. He seemed like a good egg.

He might have been an excellent umpire but was a better person. Day 5 of the West Indies test at Headingly my Dad and I got in early to get the seats we'd had the day before. We passed Mr Bird and my Dad caught a glimpse of his hero. I asked if my Dad could have a photo with fellow Yorkshireman.

Dude can’t kick accurately unless it’s from Headingly

I was in Leeds in the period. But don't remember seeing it along Headingly way.

Not abnormal, but as a proportion of the population, e.g. "Leeds", "London" does somewhat piss on the combined residential population of all those places

But then again, some people would say "North Finchley", "Outer Headingly" etc....

Obviously, the differences between a village cricket fielder and a professional are enormous.

So it was fitting that Jim Wallace and I went to Headingly to undertake a series of fielding drills with former England and renowned fielding coach, Carl Hopkinson, to show this...

Morning A-W, morning all ☕️🌧
Happy hump day
It’s pouring but will hopefully improve for 10 o’clock & the start of the Wednesday walk🤞
I think I remember that the baking dry summer of ‘76 just ended abruptly, with rain, rain, and more rain
Pity it didn’t rain at Headingly to spare the cricket blushes

I wonder if anyone really cares about this South Africa white ball series?
Then again it looks pretty full up at Headingly...
Shame the team don't seem to care...

At least it’s sunny in Headingly. Supposed to the thunder here, but this sunshine will make me hot in half an hour or so!

Had so much of that when I was a student living in Headingly. 🍺
