TIL: Before Hans Asperger or Leo Kanner, a Jewish-Ukrainian psychiatrist named Grunya Sukhareva defined autism in 1925. Both men did not cite her work. She also had documented how it affected women and girls, where the men did not.

Making this my 2026 motto:

yes we're helpful, but 'Librarians also do not have endless time and bandwidth and resources'
So we thought, this is taking too long, let's check library records for the two different publishers' versions plus the one from which ours was abridged. Some helpful librarian will have recorded the attribution.

But of course librarians also do not have endless time and bandwidth and resources.

what's the opposite of misophonia for when you hear a noise you really like. for instance whistling does me in but humming is really nice, can very much handle people humming while they work, but whistling is like someone playing an energetic violin solo on my nerves

Library spaces can be both negative and positive places for neurodivergent people. On one hand they can be noisy and busy, on the other they can also be quiet and have sensory supports. Collaboration with stakeholders is key to creating inclusive library spaces #CDGND

Clear communication from managers is essential for supporting neurodivergent staff. Having strong library policies and encouraging staff to work on projects that they are passionate about are also beneficial #CDGND
