Finally, a Blue-gray gnatcatcher allowed me to get clear pictures of her! I always come home with bits and pieces in several blurry photos. Not this morning; so glad! I couldn't pick a favorite :)

The NC Botanical Garden had a display of bird nests, and this bird’s nest is amazing!

i also saw one of my favorite birds, a blue-gray gnatcatcher! they're extremely tiny and extremely hyperactive and in summer the males have furious eyebrows. they're precious!! i rarely see them bc they're so so small and they don't like the bird feeder, so they're usually hidden in my trees.

don't know if any of y'all are @inaturalist.bsky.social heads, but here's a tiny bird that the wonderful pedants there - one place where pedantry is not only expected but appreciated - identified as a blue-gray gnatcatcher. love my bird camera! www.inaturalist.org/observations...

After 3 long sad days of not being able to go out due to rain I am back on that bird grind 🪶

Also due to the rain, the (very noisy and easy to observe from home) gila woodpeckers have now taken the top spot from mourning doves for the month of September. Very exciting development

The one and only time I ever saw a Black tailed Gnatcatcher. At least he gave me time enough to grab some pics. Peace! #birds #birding #gnatcatcher #peace #life #nature

The female Gnatcatcher usually just delivered food and left, but the male often lingered a bit to check out the nest surroundings--or to take out the garbage from the chicks.

Good bird day:)

I saw a hawk today that I think might have been a juvenile Harris's hawk which would be new for me but despite observing it with binos for a while I feel completely unconfident about my ability to ID it. So, not counting it for today, hopefully get another chance soon 🪶

A Blue-gray Gnatcatcher may be larger than a hummingbird, but it was exciting to catch one being still!
The Ruby-throated Hummingbird wanted to be just like the big birds and perch on the shepherd's hook.
