We NEED Water in rivers doing geomorphic work.

Working with Nature is our only path forward. I am here to say, the illusion of control over Nature is gone.

Along the north US Atlantic coast in places like Maine, the geomorphic impacts of ice in tidal marshes is well-documented. Ice is much less common in estuaries farther south - I wonder how it might impact some Chesapeake marshes in particular that are barely holding on.
How #cold has it been in the mid-Atlantic? Cold enough that the National Ice Center is tracking ice formation in area waterways. 🧊🥶

Looks excellent - esp this second LIDAR - i ran it past GPT and it estimates 121 certain mounds and 19 probable mounds - if you look at the alt text I added to this image you will see its methods and rationale for these numbers

🐟The unique geomorphology of rivers in the eastern #Himalaya has long intrigued geologists.

🐟Here, Sui et al. use a cold-adapted #fish genus as a biogeographic proxy to reconstruct the evolutionary history of one such river.

would eliminate the confusing & ridiculous, one-block “Wacker Place” and return “East Wacker Drive” to its accurate, geomorphic title
petition to revert “Wacker Drive” right-of-way back to its original historic names of Market Street (south of Lake Street), South Water Street (east of Wolf Point), and River Street (east of Wabash Avenue)

Where else but in my classes are students ever going to learn about the High Plains, their geologic and geomorphic history, and what happens when you get to the edge?

The worst part of #SpellingBee is having to guess which words Sam Ezersky thinks are sufficiently well-known.

Today it's the battle of geomorphic features: ARROYO yes, PLAYA no. 🙄

In a new #BSSA paper, scientists introduce a novel mapped variable for California — the regional geological unit, defined as a combination of geomorphic provinces and geological units. This variable strongly correlates with site amplification. ⚒️

Chapter 11: Rain Splash Transport

Rain splash transport has been described in the literature as the "simplest of all geomorphic processes."

That is so freaking cool. I am just mesmerized by geomorphic river cutoffs and oxbo lakes. I grew up and studied in eastern Kansas. Fished on oxbo’s. Set trotline’s, almost got capsized in a little boat by a beaver in an oxbow. Thank you. #DynamicEarth

I've done a bunch of tilesets with geomorphic topo lines but always with the constraint that the lines always connect correctly.

Personally, I would be irritated if the topo lines were mismatched, although I might not notice immediately if the elevations were not color coded (as I show here).

An interesting paper on the High Plains from a geomorphic/hydrologic perspective is Willett et al. (2018). I have an accepted paper with a somewhat similar story over much shorter timescales for loess tablelands built on the High Plains surface. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
