I went for a little wander round the garden this morning before work. I met a teddybear bee (properly, Amegilla bombiformis but it was a morning for gentle names).
Food for the soul I don't believe in.

A chubby teddybear bee, with huge green eyes and amber fur is approaching the hot pink/lilac lacey flowers of a Melaleuca thymifolia. It has clearly had a profitable morning if the amount of pollen it is carrying is any indication.

The satisfaction & relief of bringing the tender fuchsias & agapanthus into the greenhouse before the first forecast sharp frosts of the winter. Also moved pots of hardy plants around & planted two tubs of spring bulbs. Almost winter-ready 🍂🍁🌷
Pots of winter-hardy (in UK) plants on a tray. Two square planters with fresh soil & labels for Minnow daffodils & Super parrot tulips. They sit in the raised vegetable bed for now until I've decided where in the front garden they will go. A five storey shelving system with trays of plants on each level. With a thermometer & gloves. A deep green planter in a greenhouse, holding agapanthus & a flowering lilac & pale pink fuchsia. Which was on sale for £2.00 from Waitrose in the summer because it was nearly dead, but has revived and had two flushes of glorious flowers since.

Passing a front garden, a huge shrub called us to a halt; a sudden patch of vivid colour on one of Roath's clouded grey and dusk-dark streets.
Fuchsia flowers among many on a large, striking bush in a Roath front garden. The dangling flowers have pale blush pink sepals and a double corolla, with ombré pale to mid-lilac pink upper petals above deeper lilac lower ones. The stamens are pale to dark pink and white. There are dark green leaves behind.

A fuzzy yellow and black bumblebee is totally covered, tip to tail, body, legs, eyes, and wings with powdery yellow pollen. OSHA would have a field day. No matter, it won't interrupt the visit to pink and white lilac flowers. Can't hardly get dustier!

Newest addition: a lilac (syringa vulgares), one of my favorite flowers. Not sure yet where we’ll plant it. I hope it blooms next spring. Wineberry (Rubus phoenicolasius), an invasive shrub in the same genus as raspberries and blackberries. Wineberry creates spiny, inpenetrable thickets that reduce an area’s value for wildlife habitat and recreation. It was introduced to North America in the 1890s as breeding stock for raspberries. I’ll be digging it out tomorrow, though it does have pretty leaves. The ASIAN LADY BEETLE looks like a regular ladybug but it isn’t. It has an "M" shaped spot, it’s aggressive, smelly, and invades homes. So it was bye-bye fake ladybug. I took this pic of our old oak tree and the glorious blue sky with a few wispy high clouds a few days ago. It was very much like this today.

Mostly cloudy skies, a giant Olive Tree looming on the left, a bit of The neighbors ranch roof poking up over my backyard wall, which is aging, 5 ft tall cement blocks. The ground is decorative gravel. Yarn is secret garden and lilac bloom by dream in color. I am sleepy and can no longer keep my eyes open. Don't worry, I've made sure to sprinkle some errors into my project.
