First wages stagnated by failing to raise the minimum
Then they made healthy too expensive & restricted access. Housing became unaffordable. Childcare scarce& now food. Early Death will be inevitable for too many. That’s why the birth rates are falling. Abortion has nothing to do with it

Why #Affordability & #ChildCare are such burning issues.

And no, it’s not child care “fraud” as misreported in social media, it’s the very real costs of paying early childhood teachers, insurance, utilities & more.

Oh man, birth rate Discourse? What a refreshing change! Anyway, I come from a family where a lot of people, even in my generation, have roughly 3-4 kids. You want to know what all those 3+ households have in common in my family? Dad does the bulk of the early childcare.

My dream is for every university to have an early childhood teaching lab where people getting their early childhood degrees can do their practicum hours while provide childcare for staff and students

Yeah, when I had 2 kids in childcare at the same time? Oof, that was 36% of my income. And it's not like the workers or directors are making good money either. We just don't live in a civilized country where our taxes go early childhood & see children as a worthwhile investment.

Early childhood programs have massive impacts on health and development. A universal program gives young children an advantage that can carry through the rest of their lives. It also supports women, who often bare the costs in career setbacks when they cannot afford $1,200/mo for childcare.

🔊 Minnesota moms are fed up.

ICE killed a mother for standing up for her neighbors. They’re tear‑gassing our kids. Raiding childcare centers. Abducting early educators. Traumatizing our little ones.

📣 Enough is enough. It has to stop.
We need #ICEOutForGood.

What is WILD is that childcare workers is among the least paid jobs in the country YET salaries contribute substantially to the price tag.

In other words, childcare costs should arguably be... higher.

My girlfriend works in childcare/early childhood development/education, works at a pre-school and afterschool center.

Sometimes she talks to me like I'm one of her toddlers. Her "good job, baby!" sometimes feels like she seems like a puppy who brought back a ball she threw.

It's changing me.
