The app's best feature - Friends Quest - is constantly under threat. It's tricky to start, as it requires a separate browser. It's also tricky to track for the same reason. I'm not even sure if it will be available next Tuesday

Has anyone else found that Duolingo’s chess player has suddenly become much tougher to beat? I was winning about half the time until a week ago but since then I’ve only won a single match and my ELO has dropped 400 points. Looking online it seems I’m not alone.

Duolingo's new system of counting down after each task is so inferior to the old method of having lives. It doesn't take long to run out, even without making mistakes. Another attempt to persuade people to subscribe, I assume.

On the other, I've just seen a simple Japanese sentence and read one of the words in Chinese instead. 🤦 I mean, I *understood* it, but oops.

Duolingo's AI voice says the name 'Omar' by kind of swallowing the O so it sounds almost like W. I was idly wondering if that's the legit Arabic pronunciation (cf. the Australian "Aur-mah"), then I pondered that if I only ever learned Arabic from an AI app, I'd never know
