This includes detaining them without cause, using pepper spray and less lethal ammunition and detaining them.

There are regular protests at Whipple, the federal building near the airport where ICE is running its operations and detaining anyone picked up, non-citizen or citizen, who is lucky enough to get taken there.

Also, when ICE is detaining *Native Americans*, it's clear its own mission, to put it charitably, has undergone *mission creep*.
One reason to abolish ICE (and then replace it with something like the old INS) is we can then de facto fire all of the existing personnel, many of whom are jackbooted fascists. Abolishing ICE is a *pragmatic* move for a pro-democracy movement.

One of the more common responses to this thread is that there are reports of ICE confiscating people’s passports/documentation and detaining them anyway, which creates new barriers in proving citizenship to people who can get you out.
