I would like the definitions of "small" and "footprint" please
Homan says the ICE drawdown in Minnesota is "already underway this week, and will continue into the next week."

A "small footprint" will remain, he says.

But Trump's ICE surge in Minneapolis is officially over.

i'm gonna need some definitions on "the hype" and "true" in this context
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

HEY, LEFTISTS AND PROGRESSIVES

REPEAT AFTER ME

ANARCHY DOES NOT MEAN CHAOS
ANARCHY MEANS ANTI-HIERARCHY

WE LIVE IN CHAOS RIGHT NOW UNDER FASCISM

FASCISTS CREATE CHAOS, THEY CREATE DIVISION, THEY CREATE INTENTIONAL CONFLICT AND COMPETITION

STOP MAKING UP THE DEFINITIONS OF WORDS

modern fandom culture involves your BIGGEST (in all definitions of the word) fan smothering you into a wall and crushing you like a doll

dont believe me? you should. you should trust everything you see on the internet.

Read this and then get the book: “Bad Bunny showed us that when he said, “We are Americans” at the Grammys, he wasn’t merely referring to citizenship status. He was challenging this country’s ever-narrowing definitions of who is — and is not — American.” #GiftLink

For years antisemitics on the right enjoy misusing Hebrew & Yiddish words while insisting their definitions are correct.

It's similar to both the antisemitics on both sides incorrectly interpreting the Torah & Talmud

Stop speaking over Jewish people

Goy/Goyim simply means nonJewish person/people.

Read thousands of definitions in the 700-page Roger’s Profanisaurus: Turtleshead Revisited — Viz’s biggest ever encyclopaedia of bad language (and a great table-leveller). A perfect gift for yourself or someone you vaguely like.

It's so difficult to draw fluffy tails coiling someone in the same kind of squeezing satisfying way like a scalie's tail does.

With scalie tails, you can actually draw the muscular definitions and contour formation around the squeezed peeps.

We must find a way to replicate that with fluffy tails.

People spend too much time arguing over stuff when they don't even have common ground on definitions and meanings. "Is Pluto a planet?" is a canonical one in astronomy, since we don't have a good definition of "planet" (nor can there be a definite one); you can find infinite examples in politics.

Hadassah as it stands today would likely not allow their own founder to be a part of their organization, which is a sign of how dramatically definitions of "Zionism" have narrowed.
TIL Henrietta Szold, founder of Hadassah, was a co-founder of the Ihud Party, which advocated a binational Jewish-Arab state.

by most definitions I'm the last of the millennials or the first of gen z. people my age were teens on Skype, and many of us were spoken to inappropriately there, sent sexual images, groomed etc. it didn't come from "strangers" and it wouldn't be prevented by Skype having their Government ID

Seems people very clearly don't agree with Discord on this new age verification thing.

Looks like Discord finally is living up to one of it's dictionary definitions.

I wish I knew how to make my comic without the expectation of white queerness, which is not my own, hanging over my head.

Ppl and stories can exist without strict definitions and specific color combinations and without being "good" rep.

I just want to tell a story about messy ass ppl who are messy

the irony is that it used to be considered progressive to consider that definitions of human intelligence were _not_ settled. @borhane.bsky.social and I wrote a FAccT paper applying that [mostly progressive] history of problematizing 'intelligence' to AI. arxiv.org/abs/2209.00692

Polytheism's rather elegant answer to the problem of evil, which is that different beings have different definitions of what is beneficial, some of which are socially & ecologixally destructive, is one of the big reasons I'm happy as a Heathen & Pagan.
