No, Blockbuster is owned by Paramount now. Viacom, anyway.

Same as before, but 100 Years was removed and the byline “A Viacom Company” is much shifted up

In the 30’s Hitler gave everyone a subsidized radio - People's Receiver" (Volksempfänger) to ensure that as many German households as possible could listen to Nazi propaganda. We now have a golden age of propaganda which is basically an extension of the state, with an oligarch media takeover.

This is maybe the #1 disappointment. From what I've heard it may be largely due to Viacom (and other large media companies) having a sort of predetermined media pack of stuff that collabs *must* use, which likely came into play for the bonus sheet, potentially out of Wizards' hands to change.

MTV is shutting down.
I knew it was doomed when they mostly hired rich kids who wanted the cool jobs.
Then Viacom made all the channels the same, probably to siphon money to shareholders.
Now vh1, mtv, bet and -who knows what else- are gone.
And for what?
Satisfying rich people.
TRICKle down, huh??

Oops, I really need to be careful about leaving my Toon Paint lying around. It's not so much a safety risk as it is a theft risk. I know too many nerds who wanna get transformed. Now @miotf-dama.bsky.social has used the only Sandy can I had and Viacom Toon Paint is such a hassle to source!

If Netflix doesn't buy WB, David Ellison or Mike Cavanagh will. Regardless of which company wins, consolidation will happen. Think Disney/Fox. Or think bigger. Discovery leveraging the purchase of WB. Or Comcast buying Universal. Or CBS/Viacom. Theatres are struggling & it will hurt them the most.

Wasted money. They'll never compete in the meme sphere, as Viacom-Paramount-Nickelodeon still owns Spongebob

I’m reminded of the Bojack Horseman joke about the AOL-Time-Warner-Pepsico-Viacom-Halliburton-Skynet-Toyota-Trader-Joe's Company

Did you hear about Philip-Morris-Disney-Fox-AT&T-AOL-Time-Warner-PepsiCo-Viacom-Halliburton-Skynet-Toyota-Trader-Joe's? They just got acquired by White Whale.

tbf Netflix rarely licenses out merch rights beyond some apparel and maybe pop vinyls, and who's to say what till-the-end-of-time licensing deals viacom/nick have with retailers

(yes I'm still mad Trollhunters only got one wave of action figures)

I'm actually really very angry that I'm not gonna get a chance to watch this, because I'm refusing to pay for Viacom/ Paramounts swift slide into fascism... That being said, while this picture screams CW show... BtVS started there & I should say, I'd expect something cool to come out of this.

Don’t really know what impact this will have on TCM until we see how the company is split and who controls what. Same thing happened when Viacom and CBS merged, split and partly merged again?

While I'm here, if we are ranking the most mismanaged media companies of the 21st century, the WB legacy properties that have changed hands multiple times the past 35 years through conglomerates like Time Warner, AT&T, etc. has to be a candidate. Paramount/Viacom seems like the other obvious one.

Bought by Viacom then MGM then Amazon
