The Operation Lifesaver flyer telling people not to take photos on the railroad tracks. No photo is worth the risk. Photo and video shoots on or near railroad tracks are illegal and dangerous. Each year, hundreds of people are injured or killed while trespassing on railroad property in the U.S. Trains are faster and quieter than you think. Railroad tracks, bridges, trestles and yards are private property. You can be held liable for damage, injury, or worse. It can take over one mile, or 18 football fields, for a trai to come to a complete stop. Trains can't stop quickly, and they can't swerve. Sharing photos taken on or near the tracks might promote dangerous, illegal behavior. Help stop track tragedies. Know the facts. Make good decisions. Share the message.

The Washburn-Crosby Mill complex was the largest in the world when completed in 1880. It was soon overtaken for "biggest" when Pillsbury A Mill opened directly across the river. Together they made Minneapolis the planet's greatest industrial food producer for the next 50 years.

If you build it flat, I'd say spot it. But if the car doesn't sit on its own, operationally either works. Spotting cars is, in my opinion, more enjoyable for ops but both would work.

It is a trestles and plank top affair (so it can be a dining table or a desk), and I was adjusting something underneath and one trestle went out. The top fell, but missed my skull by an inch. Maybe not dead, but definitely out. It's basically petrified cherry.

This c. 1910 photo show just how much water used to surround the Oaks – Oaks Bottom was inundated year-round back then, and the railway was raised up on trestles and fill to get it well above the low-lying land. Around this time, a movement began to start draining the "malarial" Oaks Bottom.
