Trump didn’t just wage a war on kids — he’s coming for Medicaid and CHIP, ripping away the care children rely on to survive and grow. Families are already drowning in costs, and now their kids’ lifelines are on the chopping block.

Trump's HUD is preparing to gut federal support for long-term housing programs.

The changes could put 170,000 formerly homeless people at risk of losing their housing — many of whom are disabled or over 50.

The cruelty is endless. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/u...

Most disabled people who can't work and rely on government support just want enough money so we can pay our bills and rent, get groceries, do laundry, get a haircut, buy our medications and devices and look after our support animals properly with some left over to get clothes or replace things.

Medicaid cuts will shut down rural hospitals, decreasing access to care and specialists. They'll cause our seniors – parents and grandparents – to lose care, along with millions of children.

Let's talk about it: Donald Trump has been obsessed with eugenics for decades. So here is a timeline to show you how deep this obsession runs.

We begin in the 1980s, when it was alleged that Trump said, “Get rid of the [expletive] braille. No blind people are going to live in Trump Tower."

Just got word that Secretary Noem is asking for an addition to her budget - a new private Gulfstream 5 jet for her personal national photo op tour. She's already got a private plane but wants a tricked out new one.

All while she supports kicking 13 million people off Medicaid.

Medicaid coverage allows seniors and people with disabilities to receive long-term, in-home care and live with dignity. It supports hardworking family caregivers and keeps communities whole.

Trump and House Republicans want to rip away these benefits, forcing families to bear the costs instead.
How cutting Medicaid would affect long-term care and family caregivers
The federal program is the biggest source of money for long-term care for the elderly and disabled. Republican proposals to cut its budget could jeopardize supports family and caregivers rely on.

The Trump Administration is cutting funding that is critical for many disabled Americans. I met with Disability Rights Oregon to discuss the harm this is causing, as well as my commitment to accessibility and fairness for all Americans.

Today, I stood with workers and people from across our community to denounce Trump and Musk’s cuts to programs we rely on — which we’re feeling directly here in Seattle.

These cuts are devastating for workers and people on services like Social Security and Medicare. We’re here to fight back.

Senator Jim Banks (R) isn’t sorry he told a fired federal worker “he probably deserved it”.

He went on to say the worker was “complaining about losing a left-wing woke job in the federal government that should have never been a job to begin with”.

The job was helping people with disabilities.

America is a nation, not a business.

History will judge us not by how profitable our government was, but by our dedication to our VALUES.

One comes from the Bible: “That which you do to the least of mine, you do to me.”

Those 72 million Americans matter to me. I wish they mattered to Trump.
As of October 2024, approximately 72 million Americans were enrolled in Medicaid, representing about 21% of the U.S. population. It provides health coverage to low-income individuals, including children, pregnant women, adults, seniors, and people with disabilities.

RFK Jr's move to eliminate the Administration for Community Living, which helps disabled & aging people stay at home instead of being institutionalized, is disastrous.
I'm never done shouting about what my mom's institutionalization took from her & from us (so here's my @teenvogue.com piece again).

They #theyhatethedisabled why not farmers too
There should be no taxpayer-funded bailouts for American farmers who get burned by Trump's trade wars.

If the White House is concerned about the consequences that higher tariffs will have on American agriculture, there is an easy solution: Don't impose them.

Don't bail out farmers again
Farmers will bear the brunt of Trump's trade war. That's a good reason to avoid tariffs in the first place, not an excuse for another bailout.
