Eye care practitioners urge FDA to approve low-dose atropine
A Change.org petition with more than 800 signatures is calling on the FDA to approve low-dose atropine to slow the progression of pediatric myopia. It comes after the FDA decided not to approve SYD-101 (0.01% atropine, Sydnexis) in October despite acknowledging the drug met its primary efficacy endpoint in a phase 3 study and had no safety or quality issues. The petition was posted on Dec. 9 by the Pediatric Progressive Myopia Coalition, a partnership between Robert S. Gold, MD, FAAP, a pediatric ophthalmologist at Eye Physicians of Central Florida, and Cheryl Chapman, OD, FIAOMC, FAAO, Dipl

yeah, for those dudes “Don’t Tread On Me” has apparently always been a slogan that literally only applied to them as specific individuals, and their myopia leads them to believe that what they empower today will never be wielded against them tomorrow. it’s both disgusting and naive.

Add Trump
"This was the egotism that defined evil across generations: Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot—they all shared the same self-absorbed arrogance and myopia. They saw everything clearly, and they alone held the answers. It was the classic trap: blind stupidity and hubris."

This may be an inflammatory take, but deepening cooperation with authoritarian regimes is not good news.
Governments that choose this path could instead help Ukraine incapacitate Russia and decisively tip the whole power scale in their favor, rather than trying to balance it with infamous myopia.

Biden ultimately cared about industrial policy more than welfare because he had a holistic, and again, reactionary, vision born of his early menteeship to Scoop Jackson. What he prioritized contributed to Trump's reelection, and demonstrated the narcissism and myopia that permeated his term.

“All I am doing “ hahahahaha It seems your blinding passion for one single issue has caused myopia with your thinking and being able to address more than one problem at a time. This issue has minutiae to do with the actual 2A if you step back and actually see it.

A classic case of political myopia - those MPs might want to remember that there’s more to the electorate than just the red wall. While they squabble over their niches, some fresh faces could emerge as savvy picks for Fantasy Parliament, capitalizing on unaddressed voter concerns.

theory. The "reaction" we have to these formal systems breaking is often to try and create a less error-prone formal system—but these new systems are necessarily more complex, and the drive to create them is not aesthetic or practical, but rather a nerdy myopia focused on

Myopia might be it

Or an unspoken and unacknowledged sense that Trump's arbitrary prerogative power is/was "just the way the world works"

Any parents and stats geeks with short-sighted children spent any time looking at the new prescription tech that is supposed to slow development of myopia....
Doesn't look like woo at Cochrane, but "very low certainty evidence"

This is precisely why looking only at Noem or Baldoni focuses too low; it's the same myopia that caused the Garland DOJ to focus on those who defecated in the Capitol and attacked officers, but not the people who planned and caused them to be there and protected them after their crimes.

myopia is so funny for a liberal to say when they're justifying giving billions of dollars to cops. like can't they stop and think they're being myopic by not gaming out the consequences of giving billions of dollars to fascists?

“Refusing to arm fascists is myopia“

Hmm:

So much of the most egregious and cruel myopia you always hear from blue wave losers always sounds like defensiveness about their stock portfolios.
January 28, 2026 at 8:10 AM
They all do that, yeah. It's why unlearning their myopia and arrogance is necessary now if they're going to be useful.
January 28, 2026 at 5:47 AM
see, this is the problem. you say things like this that aren’t even true, but *you’re* so convinced by the falsity that you don’t even bother to check. This incorrect myopia about the value of stem is literally what faine is talking about in these threads!

Fascists would rather kill the world than imagine a world without them in it. The old and sick people who run the country would rather take us all out with them than imagine a future that keeps on going without them. Myopia in extremis.

That thing over there was more there than it’s there!Yes, sometimes I cry about the perfect body that doesn’t exist. But the perfect body is the bodiest body there can be,And the rest are the dreams men have,The myopia of someone who doesn’t look very much,
