#Conjugations
Chinese grammar is easier than English grammar.

No verb conjugations.
No plural forms.
No gendered nouns.

The language isn't the problem.
Your expectations are.

Stop calling it "hard."
Start calling it "different."

it bothers me that there's so much about cebuano that isn't in sources online. for posterity: tabo' (n) means gathering. but specifically of buyers and merchants (fishermen, farmers, etc). tabo also means to go to one. idk all the conjugations. a tabo' happens before dawn to early morning.

In primary school, there are kids who learn their conjugations and their multiplication tables. Me, I learned something more useful: the strong get off on walking all over other people, and wiping their feet while they're at it, like you would on a doormat.

i found some stuff about -ə being singular and -ɜ (for a long schwa) being plural, but i’ve also seen -ə used for both sg and plural (simply making you use context and verb conjugations to tell), and now i find one that uses -ɜ in the singular as well. I take this as a win. Just use ɜ everywhere

Everyone complains about English spelling and conjugations even though most of that is either not English's fault (thanks, Normans) or fairly universal to natural languages.

What we should be mad about is that "person" "persons" "people" and "peoples" are all real words with different meanings.

in certain conjugations of the stars
lodge in the heart and spread out
across mountains and borders
across languages and seas and you

can’t shoot it down or lock it up
or alter its pixels. It is played
in the hollowed reeds of dead bones.
A poem like that is a bomb.

Yeah Katakana were taken from kanji as a base because they realized chinese characters don't make sense in a language that loves conjugations

Hiragana were created after as a cursive katakana but eventually took over their role

Verb conjugations are some of the most fascinating parts of the grammar of every language, because which inflection categories a language keeps says a lot about what the people speaking the language find valuable to be able to succinctly express!
