Trump asks court, SNAP frozen

1m

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to intervene in a dispute over frozen SNAP benefits after an appeals court blocked it, leaving millions in limbo during the federal shutdown.

Democratic senators gave up fighting for 24 million to stay in healthcare, to stop Trump from starving 42 million on SNAP, but Trump is not going to stop trying to starve those 42 million. Because making American working families suffer & die is what brings him joy.

Since January, Trump's Treasury has quietly gutted enforcement of the corporate alternative minimum tax — a huge boon for big business and wealthy investors.

Meanwhile, he's led an all-out assault on Medicaid, SNAP, and other programs that help the poor.

Reverse Robin Hood.

Paperwork burden, stigma and stress are common for SNAP and increase food insecurity. Many (most) recipients are children, disabled or older, while many already work, if they can. Not letting people go hungry should be a fundamental function of government.
It is incredible — the blind spots you develop when you’ve never, ever been poor.
Trump claims that food stamps "puts the country in jeopardy. People that are able-bodied can do a job, they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up, it's easier."

Donald Trump just said he'll ask the Supreme Court to freeze SNAP payments AGAIN.

It’s appalling that the President of the United States and all of his advisors together know less about how SNAP works than my students do. Or else they are just lying. And I’m not sure which is worse.
Trump on SNAP: It really puts the country in jeopardy. People who are able bodied who can do their job—they leave their job because they figure they can pick this up because it’s easier—that’s not the purpose of it

At 11:54 p.m. ET, the First Circuit *denied* the Trump administration's request for a stay pending appeal in the SNAP case.

#SCOTUS now has 48 hours (so, through 11:54 p.m. on Tuesday) to either grant the same relief or extend the "administrative stay" entered by Justice Jackson on Friday night.

Ending or cutting back SNAP was the point, so why believe R's will do anything to stop the Trump administration from trying other ways once the government re-opens?

Trump confuses using food stamps with inheriting millions from a racist-landlord father.

It's not just the govn't shutdown & SNAP delays. The GOP is cutting food benefits, education programs, farm subsidies, FAA services, wind & solar production, etc - while food, travel, healthcare, energy, & tariff costs increase.

Dems caving now addresses NONE of this!
