Trump: “The Democrats refuse to vote for Voter I.D., or Citizenship. The reason is very simple — They want to continue to cheat in Elections. This was not what our Founders desired … There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not!“
WOW. Incredible. This is the case in which DHS claimed that ICE officers had been attacked with a shovel and fired back in self-defense. Evidence since suggests an ICE officer fired through a closed door and struck someone on the other side.

Will DHS retract the prior claims?

In a recent conference in France, I mentioned this tracker - some people already knew about this - and I was happy to help disseminate @chrischirp.bsky.social's amazing work.
Great to see my friend Christina Pagel featured in the THE for her work on tracking Trump's authoritarian actions.

New in PN: The Fulton County raid is part of Trump's total war on voting

"The SAVE Act is not expected to pass the Senate, but in some ways, it doesn’t really need to. It's already served the same purpose as the raid: undermining confidence in elections by amplifying debunked lies about fraud."

And it's disturbing that a magistrate judge signed off on it.

The SAVE America Act mandates documentary proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections. The problem: the Constitution assigns voter qualifications to the states, and the Supreme Court has said Congress cannot set them.

Citizenship voting requirement in SAVE America Act has no basis in the Constitution – and ignores precedent that only states decide who gets to vote
The House has passed a bill to require proof of citizenship for voting. Although it likely won’t become law, the bill raises constitutional questions.

NEW: ProPublica and @texastribune.org found that DHS rushed a revamped tool to check voters’ citizenship into use while it was still adding data.

As a result, the tool has made persistent mistakes, particularly for citizens born outside the U.S.

Since the 1970s, the Earth — fueled by greenhouse gas emissions — has been warming at a fairly steady rate.

But 2023, 2024 and 2025 were far warmer than previous trends. A Post analysis shows the warming rate over the past decade increased by 42 percent. https://wapo.st/4qA1kZM

It is. The Jewish Musuem in Prague has a collection of children's drawings from the Terezin ghetto. It was the worst thing I've seen in my life.
“Collection of Handwritten Letters from Children in Detention Center” sounds like an exhibit in the Holocaust Museum.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵
Right now Rikers Island, the physically largest jail in the entire United States, is holding under 7,000 people.

ICE's warehouse plans include detention camps which will hold between 8,500-10,000 people in buildings not designed for human habitation.
