Rounding out a bananas evening with a little box play

Yeah. I went to see an MCAS specialist who said she didn’t think I had it, but said take large doses of H1 and see what happens. Mostly resolved chronic urticaria. I added an H2, which helped more. Then recently my neurologist suggested an H3, and it’s been transformative.
Breaking, from me: An executive order from Oklahoma's governor directs most of the state's public colleges to "phase out tenure." #AcademicSky #HigherEd @chronicle.com

And yet it seems like there is ZERO awareness, among healthcare providers or the general public, that this is an incredibly common feature of long COVID.

SU set up their wastewater testing capacity during Covid, starting from absolute zero, led by an assistant prof who transported the samples to the local certified lab (there wasn't one on campus) in her car. Pretty cool to see it being leveraged for other kinds of public health assessments!

Wastewater testing and student surveys produced similar estimates of cocaine use on campus. This study coauthored by Dessa Bergen-Cico & David Larsen shows anonymous, community-level data could help track public health trends more efficiently. @maxwellsu.bsky.social journals.plos.org/plosone/arti...

This morning at the Minnesota State Capitol.

An ice sculpture that reads "PROSECUTE ICE". I'm told the organization behind the sculpture is Common Defense.

😂 well, I guess anyone can botanize! I’ve even been known to do it myself when my sister isn’t handy.

I’ve had a few Newfie mixes over the years. They’re pretty wonderful.

It’s also a Newfie thing

I didn’t know that botanists other than my sister referred to it as botanizing.

My guess/hope is that there is some Newfie in the mix.

Anyone’s guess. Mama is a big lab mix. Dad is unknown. The entire litter was enormous, though.

I think a kiddie pool may be in our future.

Some days you need a lake. So you take matters into your own paws.

I’ve been driven a little mad by the insistence, without much in the way of evidence — let alone comparative evidence — , that affective polarization in the public is the main issue.

THANK YOU
The US is often seen as an extreme case where polarization erodes democracy bc partisanship now permeates all everyday sociability and affects. But this is now being contradicted by a whole number of studies. Besides the really interesting new work by @jonadejong.bsky.social, there is... (quick 🧵)
Do ordinary Republicans and Democrats really avoid each other in everyday life? In a new working paper with Delia Baldassarri, we present descriptive and experimental evidence to challenge the view that partisanship drives the formation of social relationships.

He could come down and get you, but then he’d have to go back up again. If he’s anything like mine, he probably figures a few sharp barks will get your attention just as well.

Thanks for reporting. This is really encouraging, in spite of everything

The overflow room at the Surprise City Council meeting has also filled up (it has a 500 person capacity). I can’t tell how many are still outside but we can hear them chanting “ICE out” in here so it seems like quite a lot.

Not sure! Rescues.
