Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the atonement that will be required of us?
Shelters that house unaccompanied minors are bracing for "Freaky Friday," the start of an ICE operation that will first issue letters to children, seeking to pressure them to return to the countries they've fled in exchange for a cash payment. If they decline, their parents will be targeted by ICE.

RIP TO A LEGENDARY ICON
Before she passed, Jane Goodall was interviewed as recently as last week, and her message was clear, consistent, and timely: "Humans are not exempt from extinction."
Jane Goodall’s final, urgent, message
"Intelligent creatures don’t destroy their only home.”

1. Dr. Jane Goodall 1934 - 2025

In 1962, a very young woman named Jane Goodall stepped into the African forest.

What she would discover shattered our understanding of the place of human beings in the world.

She revealed that chimpanzees use tools, form bonds, and experience emotions.

Jane Goodall was my first childhood hero, as I loved animals as a kid and was inspired by her story. I still remember the National Geographic specials about her. RIP.

BREAKING

Dr. Jane Goodall has died. She was 91.

It is impossible to sum up the impact she has had on our world and on science in a social media post.

She lived a long and incredible life but I am devastated.

Can’t get this quote out of my head, because it rings so true.

“Welcome to Black America. That’s our history. The line we have drawn in general has not been majoritarian politics, unfortunately. That’s just been what it is.”

Trans people every right to be furious with the ongoing silence of those who aren't speaking up, and it's insane to me that there are non-trans people who want a pass on this.

You don't get a pass. Either you care about us, or you don't.

Totally expected it, yet still incredibly emotional about EDD’s retirement. She literally gave up her body to win the Mystics that 2019 championship.

It feels so unfair she didn’t get to be a part of this recent boom in the game, both for the new fans and for her.

Was an honor to cover her.

So, educators: PLEASE, resist this. Do what you do best: supporting our students whomever they are and however they show up. Outing them, forcing them in the closet does not help anyone and would make you a weapon of cruelty. RESIST.

This order will kill kids, there's no other way to say it. It's the government forcibly taking control of the bodies of thousands of children.
Trump issues a sweeping executive order purporting to (a) defund medical institutions that provide gender-affirming care to patients under 19 and (b) revoke coverage for such care under federal insurance plans. This is illegal and will be challenged. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

I'll say again: Not prosecuting nixon was among the biggest domestic mistakes this country made in the 20th century. Similarly, the 1872 Amnesty Act, for the 19th.

Could a second term President Donald Trump legally use military forces to conduct domestic law enforcement activities?

The simple answer to the question is “yes,” writes Morgan Cloud.

Less than 0.002% of NCAA athletes are trans. The obsession over this is a classic example of a moral panic. Especially given, as the president of the NCAA here rightly points out, how it occludes the pervasive problem of online harassment & abuse that women athletes face.

the clear sign that they just don’t see these kids as real people is the endless concern over hypotheticals and the indifference to the reality that actual children are more likely to kill themselves because of these bans
Kavanaugh also brings up "detransitioners," people who "regret" their decision to transition genders. Like Alito, he cites European countries that are "pulling back" from gender-affirming care for minors, saying it's a "yellow light" or "red light" for the court that Europe is "pumping the brakes."

This era is strange because it is both socially/culturally regressive, yet technologically accelerationist.

Backward + forward at the same time. With human erasure being the goal.

I think those interested in cultural preservation, archival work— resisting erasure will be *especially* important.
