a lot of this is frustratingly redacted, but it still proves that Tesla is doing exactly what DMV accused it of doing in their complaint, which is currently awaiting a ruling: telling the public vehicles are "self-driving" while telling regulators that nah, legally it's still just people driving

This has been the default rule when covering Trump (and Republicans more generally) for decades now. The problem is that the right has cowed into being afraid of accused of bias, so people compensate by being extremely generous with the benefit of the doubt, so they can say "EVEN STILL, LOOKS BAD"
there's a tendency to grant all of trump's premises and then be like "even if what he's saying is true about the epstein files it makes no sense not to release them" like catching him in a lie or inconsistency is important when instead what we should be doing is relentlessly calling him a pedo
