Hey! It's bad! arstechnica.com/space/2025/0...

2/3 cut in astrophysics
2/3 cut in heliophysics
50% cut in Earth science
30% cut in planetary science

This is just such an incredible self-own, what are we doing?

If you look at DOGE's receipts, one of their main "cost savings" was in subscriptions.

Otherwise, it's mostly garbage.
The US State Department is forcing all of its employees to cancel subscriptions to any Trump-unfriendly media.

As a liberal Democrat, of course I’m concerned about some of the things that Trump is doing. But I need another month of complaining about wokeness and Latinx before I start saying anything about these things.

The greatest political scandal today is not what Trump is doing. It is the fact that congressional Republicans have given up their role in the constitutional system as a check on the executive branch. If we are in a constitutional crisis, it is as much on Mike Johnson and John Thune as anyone else.

I think there are good odds that the Trump administration uses the retaliatory tariffs imposed by Canada on lumber as an excuse for large-scale private timber operations on federal lands. They may even try to privatize national parks, etc. at a significant level.

I think Americans, blessed with relatively stable government for a long time, assume there is someone, some adult, who will step in and make things right before the President does anything REALLY bad.

There’s not.
