I see a general strike as unsubscribing to monthly subscriptions. Boycott Amazon is possible by canceling Prime subscriptions, protesting Whole Foods. Cancel Hulu, cancel facebook, cancel X. Anything you're paying for, you could stop. Hit the tech in the pocket and the guys on the inauguration stand

But it's important to understand that their panic is paired with billions of dollars in funding for hiring and buying equipment and building concentration camps. Their panic pushes them to accelerate, and history shows that with enough resources even a very small paramilitary force can hold power

Our legacy media endlessly perpetuates the assumption, for which there is no evidence, that Elon Musk is a comic book super genius inventor. So they never shift to the assumption, for which evidence abounds, that he's just a cheap charlatan sabotaging human progress for his own benefit.

Musk just shifted his claim from a mars colony (so difficult as to be impossible, basically) to a moon colony (far less difficult but still so difficult as to be impossible, basically) and media greeted it with the same po-faced credulity as all previous claims despite all available evidence.

It's exactly this. Musk never gets called on the fact that he's been 10 years out from a moon colony for the last 16 years; Republicans never get called on anything; why wouldn't CEOs start testing out this new accountability-free zone and just say whatever's convenient to manipulate the moment?
I work in procurement and our vendors have been rolling out AI systems and... it has been a disaster. The AI gets everything wrong and I have to navigate a labyrinthian telephone menu to get to a human to fix it.

This has big "We'll colonize the moon in 10 years!" Musk energy.

"The third woman said federal agents at her hotel are subsisting on microwavable bowls of Campbell’s chicken noodle soup, because it’s become so difficult for them to find restaurants willing to serve them.”
I visited hotels all over Minneapolis, went into back rooms & talked to the staff.

They're afraid.

One told me she resents how her undocumented coworkers spend their days cleaning the rooms of agents who are “hunting down their family members.”
