Almost Home - this month’s riso print to ring in the fall.

Not sure how to describe it, but this time of year always feels like I’m almost “home” so I wanted to come up with something that touches on that feeling a little

Important 🧵. This is clearly meant to intimidate. It is great to see the people standing up, however.
I’m here in MacArthur Park in Los Angeles, where military style vehicles have pulled up down Wilshire and Alvarado, amid rumors of an ICE raid in the park have proliferated since last night

The things I value most from the federal government:
Public education.
Public health.
Public libraries.
Public lands.
Public media.
Public infrastructure.
This is what I want our representatives to focus on.

there’s something so heinous about google releasing DeepFake Maker 3.0 and throwing their hands up in the air like “what a shame that consensus reality has crumbled! what a shame no one will ever know what’s real ever again!”

Councilor Smith moves to amend the Central Albina settlement - increasing it from $2M to $8.5M.

This comes closer to recognizing the true scale of generational harm caused by systematic displacement of Black families.

I seconded the amendment.

When the Lunar Orbiter 4 spacecraft gave us our first good view of the Orientale basin it was revelatory. Not only was this giant multi ringed impact basin first revealed in its general form, other such basins were recognized across the Lunar near side. Oil paints on canvas panel.

🚨WOW. It turns out that a "Tren de Aragua gathering" the Trump admin said it broke up in March ... was just a BIRTHDAY PARTY.

None of the people arrested at the party seem to have any criminal record — and none have been charged criminally in the months since it happened.

There's a Tlingit opera in the works at Perseverance Theatre (in Juneau/Anchorage). It's been a project of many years, and it feels so so so important. Especially right now.

Composer Ed Littlefield is at the helm -- his percussion & sound design for Where the Summit Meets the Stars slayed me.
First week of Tlingit opera workshop #3 is in the books! It was a looooot but it’s really taking shape.

This week we covered Lingít language, Lingít movement plans, the history of the battles of Sitka, got a feel for the action happening in the libretto, and of course lots and lots of vocal work.

me at work: summer is the season of growth!
me, also at work, frantically scribbling in my journal: is our cultural relationship to summer forced to shift as climate change fundamentally alters conditions into a terrifying firey hellscape each year? how, then, must we as humans celebrate—

happy pride: go into your public library and if they have a pride display, ask for the manager’s email to tell them that you appreciate it. if they don’t, ask for the manager’s email to tell them how disgusted you are that in this climate, they’re leaving lgbtq people in the lurch

People who only engage with the topics of intimate violence to complain about how survivor movements go “too far” reveal their true priorities: to suppress challenges to patriarchy.

At least a third of women worldwide have been victims of physical or sexual violence. No, we have not gone “too far.”
