I should probably remind people that I had a novel called GIRL IN THE CREEK come out about a month and a half ago. It got a star in the Library Journal! And look at this awesome blurb from @keithrosson.bsky.social:
I hope no actual book clubs are trying to reach me via email, because the AI scammers have pretty much rendered those water toxic.

There's almost nothing nicer than emailing one of your write buddies to tell them you loved their book. :)

I have said this before in various contexts, and often include it when I teach classes & workshops:

Submission Grinder is one of the best tools for writers out there.

If you run a spec fic/fantasy (etc) mag make sure they know about you.

If the arrival of November's eligibility posts, end-of-the-year wrap-ups, year's-best lists, & Goodreads awards voting has left you feeling like a lazy, unaccomplished writer with unmemorable work, know you are not alone.
At least we can drown our sorrows in egg nog!

Wendy put together an amazing evening for a very important cause.

I got to see @dangerslater.bsky.social explain the history of bananas and they let me talk about C.H.U.D.s.

Lovely night. No notes.
Last night's fundraiser for the Oregon Food Bank was awesome! Tons of local writers came out to read, contribute books & goodies for our raffle prizes, and to donate to the food bank. We raised $1495 for the food bank while having a lot of fun and exchanging a LOT of hugs.
People are so very good.

Me: I spent 12 days rushing around organizing this big event. I can relax & be happy today, right?
Brain: NO DOPAMINE UNTIL YOU START WORKING ON YOUR NEXT SHENANIGAN.

Come see some awesome readings and performances tonight at Rose City Book Pub! @dangerslater.bsky.social specifically told me you can throw things at him while he's reading; dunno what that's about but🤷‍♂️
Tonight's the night!!! If you're in Portland, stop by the Rose City Book Pub between 4 and 9 pm to hear nine amazing authors read and to share your own work! Let's gather to raise money for hungry people in Oregon -- and to have a really terrific time.

The OR Democrats asked me to come volunteer to stuff envelopes to raise $$ for them, so I could "change the future of elections."
I thought about quoting Zohran Mamdani about how most people think politics is something done TO us, but his campaign showed it's something done BY us.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

You can search by zip code and a lot of places have wish lists set up on Chewy so you’ll be able to see exactly what they need and have it sent direct to them. Couldn’t be easier.
if you are food insecure for both the humans and pets in your household there is a tool called Pet Help Finder that can help locate pet food banks nearby and other free or reduced price assistance and supplies for pets.
no one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, should have to give up their pet bc of this.

Trump tactics give everyone whiplash from the global economy to federal workers to SNAP recipients to... I wonder how much he thinks that this is art-of-the-deal genius, which maybe did work on the scale of scammy developer and does not work on this scale. Except as a cruelty-stupidity mashup.
This is an absolutely insane administrative process. Within the space of a week, states were told by judges/White House
*no SNAP benefits
*half benefits
*full benefits
*pause provision of benefits.
Result is chaos, uncertainty, and uneven access to benefits depending on where people live.
NEW: The Trump admin told states it must immediately "undo" the work to provide full food stamp benefits, or face penalties. The feds sent this in a late-night memo, only adding to the chaos and confusion around SNAP. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/09/b...

Yikes. USDA sent threatening letter to states telling them that if they sent out EBT money —which many states did during the window when a lower court said SNAP funds had to be released—they have to take it back (?)
Trying to sort out what this means and if states even can claw back the funds

It seems like, at some point, LOSING this much money when investors are involved? Should maybe be a crime…
ICYMI: Microsoft’s charge “implies a more than $12 billion quarterly loss at OpenAI, said Firoz Valliji, an analyst at Bernstein.”

That “would mark one of the largest single-quarter losses for a tech company in history.”
