81 years ago, FDR proposed a second Bill of Rights to guarantee every American the right to employment, healthcare, education, housing, and a living income. His words are as relevant now as they were then. Watch.

By the way: The prosecution made this estimate despite Keller telling the judge that he was still going through discovery in the case.

Keller indicated that the government isn’t prepared to make its first discovery production until Nov. 14, which the judge found…unusual.
I also attended the arraignment this morning.

One of the more surprising moments came when counsel for the prosecution, Roger Keller, estimated that government would call 8-10 witnesses and that the case would take 2 weeks to try.

(The judge said 8-10 witnesses should take 3-5 days.)

Trump isn’t the disease — he’s a symptom.

The real sickness is the corporate and billionaire money corrupting both parties.

Judge Sooknanan: As I said at the start of this hearing, I got a call at 2:36 am [last night] because the government chose the wee hours of the morning on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend to execute a plan to move these children. That's why we're here.

Why is everyone talking about mid-cycle redistricting now? Politicians fear losing power, and they’re willing to rewrite the rules to keep it.

The first rule of homelessness policy is that it must be cruel.

The second rule is that it must be expensive.

The current GOP idea is to move from "spend a lot so cops, paramedics, and ERs can shuffle them around" to "spend a lot to put them in jail."

God forbid we just provide basic shelter.
Again we see the incoherence of right-wing policy. Rounding up homeless people and imprisoning them *is* housing them! Punitive solutions to this problem also cost a shitload and require a massive bureaucracy.

They are fine with providing housing, but only if it is ineffective and dehumanizing.
This is the line of thinking. Prevent states and localities from being more protective of the unhoused than SCOTUS. Do it through financial coercion.
