2/ In one of the pre-action letters, I told the EHRC that they would be failing in their duty to monitor the effectiveness of human rights and equality enactments if they pretended that the Supreme Court decision could be made workable without trans people voluntarily waiving their human rights.

I’ve taken a brief look at the Equality Act 2010, especially the parts on associations, and what stands out is that it says nothing about office-bearers. Only memberships are regulated. I don’t think a quota qualifies as an “other detriment” against a member.

I’ve often said that part of my motivation to fight transphobia and other injustices here is to help keep New Zealand safe from the influence of bigots in the UK. Now that the horrible ban on puberty blockers has reached my former home, I feel even more determined to step up my efforts.

Restricting the availability of puberty blockers to trans kids but allowing them for cis kids is a blatant violation of NZBORA (1990) and the Human Rights Act (1993).
This will undoubtedly end up in court - very quickly as the subject of a Judicial Review.
