I've been having some trouble staying asleep the past few months. While it hasn't helped me get to sleep (the writing is too good), I want to thank @stephenking.bsky.social for writing Insomnia, which I've been finding very strangely comforting during this time.

This was my grandmother's favorite cocktail. I wonder if she knew she shared this with Gene Kelly?
“The Alexander appeals to the little boy in me. I guess—it tastes like a chocolate bar, and, somehow, Christmas and chocolate go together. Mix ½ ounce of fresh cream, ¾ ounce of creme de cacao, a jigger of gin or brandy. Shake well with cracked ice, and it’s great.” — Gene Kelly 🧊

Icelandic folklore tells of the Yule Cat that terrorizes children if they don't have new socks for Christmas.

folklore does not specify whether the Yule Cat is adorable or not, tho. ❤️🐈‍⬛

“As prices for streaming subscriptions continue to soar and finding movies to watch, new and old, is becoming harder as the number of streaming services continues to grow, people are turning to the unexpected last stronghold of physical media: the public library.”

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Since our fucking government isn’t observing World AIDS Day, I will. In 1990, I started taking care of people in the last stages of AIDS in their homes. I did this for nearly two years. The home care company I worked for had meetings for those of us who solely (or nearly solely) took care of PWAs.

This has suddenly made me realize that there could be a Muppet-driven show that functions much like DOCUMENTARY NOW. Like … just imagine the possibilities. Oh my god.
Am I a hypocrite for wanting this after giving a hard no to muppet knives out
Okay, I'm making my case for the only Muppet I want to see on Broadway right now...

- Giant thing wrecks stuff
- French people smoke cigarettes and discuss the meaninglessness of life
- Crazed fever dream
- Gay people terrorize the straights
- Muppets
What are your top 5 movie genres? Mine are:

- Roaring rampage of revenge
- Reluctantly, I must resume my life of violence
- On reflection, the risk assessment on our giant monster facility and/or attraction could have been more thorough
- Girl survives
- Crime but make it quirky
