The UK editor of ITV news here saying he has no influence over The News Cycle, which is, let's be very clear, 100% "what newspaper editors are choosing to cover."

Again: if your job is to read the Mail and put whatever they say on your program, why is it not just minimum wage?
It’s a sign of how insane the news cycle is these days that this historic failure of government policy got just one day of news coverage this week.

Not saying that’s right or wrong, but it’s astonishing how quickly the agenda moves on these days.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

"Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen..." like being dismembered alive with a bonesaw. It's just a 'thing' that sometimes happens. No need to embarrass anyone by going on about it.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

A reason I'm becoming pretty certain that this is an event horizon for the AI Bubble is due to the wider market now realizing that Michael Burry's assessment of the 'Depreciation Con' being run by every big firm is correct.

Here's Atrioc breaking down what that con is & how it applies to AI firms.

Someone tag the Labour party: ““This was a cynical strategic manoeuvre to avoid losing voters to the far right, but it seems, based on polling, that all they have done is prime their own voters to join the far right rather than stay with the Social Democrats.””

Theatre kids might actually do a better job than PPE kids.
The right wing approach now is to put me in a box with an incredibly successful politician who just won a stunning victory.

This is Pure Cope Exhibit A

Public attitudes have indeed hardened over the last decade.

People have been convinced by the wall-to-wall migrant bashing into believing that immigration is responsible for the fall in their living standards

This a win for the billionaires who have been quietly hoovering up all the wealth...
Asked if Keir Starmer believes British people want to "see refugee children pulled out of school and deported after 10 years in this country”, his spokesman says that “what the British public wants and what this government was elected on a mandate to deliver was to secure our borders"

Statutory definition of "family" to be introduced. Even though human rights law refuses strictly to define and limit family, in recognition of the infinite variety of human existence and the possibility of change over time. Might not seem important or have much real-world impact but this is Bad.

This passage is key. What will criteria and fee for this new route be? How many refugees are expected to qualify? Some refugees will be unable to work or study and they will be very harshly treated under this plan.

This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

It appears that our Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, has been inspired by Kirsti Noem - and finds her to have an “under appreciated intellect and eye for detail” and is now following her lead.

Isn’t that just utterly horrifying.

Of all Starmer’s picks for cabinet, she has to be the worst.

Who needs Reform, when we have a government that is already committed to performatively doubling down on cruelty to refugees, as well as tearing up postwar international institutions?

First, it's the Refugee Convention 1951, next it'll be the ECHR!
