Federal funding cuts have forced wildland firefighters to cancel prescribed burns, which help prevent wildfires.

“We will be more vulnerable to a catastrophic fire in the future as a result,” one firefighter said.
How Trump’s Federal Funding and Hiring Freezes Are Leaving America Vulnerable to Catastrophic Wildfire
Uncertainty over funding and hiring stemming from the president’s executive orders has limited wildfire training and postponed work to reduce flammable vegetation. It has also led some firefighters…

worth saying again these these unilateral cuts are illegal. neither trump nor musk has the authority to unilaterally slash appropriated funds.
Hearing that the DOGE chaos hurricane is hitting HUD soon, and the plan is to devastate federal housing funding. Let's be clear: this would cause a cascade of catastrophic impacts nationwide, shutting down housing and dumping families into the street.

Wow, it's almost like Trump is enacting a radical, incredibly unpopular agenda that he never mentioned or explicitly denied during the campaign, and the Democrats and press are so mentally committed to servile accommodationism that they're pretending he has a sweeping mandate for that agenda!
I didn't anticipate the public health freezes. Did anyone? Was anyone in Trump world boasting about this ahead of time, like they did everything else? Stopping government from doing things in our system is much easier than making it do things you want, even things like banning a vaccine.
